Comments : POE very easy. My fiance and I arrived at Fort Lauderdale, FL and had a very nice immigration officer. They took the sealed packet given at Embassy. He was taken to a processing room but was not asked any questions. All the officer told us was "Make sure you guys get married within 90 days, don't get in trouble" :)

Consulate Review: Jamaica
Review Topic: General Review
Event Description
Review Date : September 27, 2016
Embassy Review : We arrived exactly at our appointment time which was 9am. We did not have to make a line outside, so they let us right in. My fiance had to leave his cel phone and keys outside with some people who hold items for 500 JMD.

Once we walked through security, we were given a number and waited for several hours until we were called.

They first called us to window#14 and were asked for Passport, Certificate of no-impediment (or results letter from RGD), Divorce certificates for both of us since we were both married before, Birth Certificate, Police certificate, Affidavit of Support I-134 plus supporting docs (I submitted most recent tax return, job letter, and paystubs from the last month). They did not ask for additional proof of relationship. They made my fiance sign a letter that states if we marry before entering the US, he will not be granted a K1.

After that, we went back to have a seat and waited for about 2 more hours. The consular officer we got was very nice (short guy with glasses window #7). We were actually both interviewed. The first question was directed towards me, he said "So you came all the way to Jamaica for this interview" and I said "Yes". We were both asked several questions, but instead of feeling interrogated, it felt mostly conversational. Some of the questions my fiance was asked included:

Have you ever traveled outside of Jamaica? Where and for how long?

Where did we meet?

Does he know my kids?

How was it spending time with 13 year old?

What do you do for a living?

Officer showed us some of the pictures and asked us who was in the pictures with us (like friends, family, etc) location, of the photos.

He asked me if I follow my fiance's diet (since he is a Rasta). I said yes, we eat vegetables, chicken and fish. No pork of beef.

If we were married before. To who and when we got divorced.

Finally he asked when we planned to fly back together, so I told him Saturday Sept 24th (Our interview was Tuesday Sept 20th). He said, they would try their "best" but no guarantees they would have the passport ready. He handed us a slip to come back 2 days after the interview. We went back and got it!

Overall, it was a very nice experience. Consular officer and staff were nice.

Good luck to all.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
