Consulate Review: Sydney, Australia
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 10, 2017
Embassy Review : Had my consulate interview last week (5/Sep/17). Despite some of the poor reviews here, I found all staff, from the first person who checked my documents in the lobby to the security staff and finally the embassy interviewers all very professional, friendly and helpful. The questions were straightforward and consistent...3 people ahead of me, and myself were all asked the same basic questions:
1. How did you meet
2. How did your relationship develop
3. What do you intend to do for work in the US
4. Where do you intend to live

There were no "gotcha" questions and any required clarification was sought before moving onto the next question. There was one lady ahead of me with poor English and the staff member was patient and explained things clearly until the lady understood what documents she had to provide before being granted her visa.
I did have one issue where I was unable to obtain a police certificate and after explaining the situation, the consular officer informed me she would contact the relevant embassy for me.
All in all, positive experience.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
