Comments : We had our case transferred from the National Benefits Center to Philadelphia to be adjudicated. At our interview we found out that most, if not all, K1 AOS cases are approved WITHOUT an interview. We had an interview because my wife had trouble getting fingerprinted by their system, so they required an interview. It was so easy, the officer just asked for a few docs and asked us some basic questions. She asked my wife a few serious questions about criminal history, terrorism and drugs. No surprises, thankfully!

Event Description

Embassy Review : The long awaited interview has finally come! This was a Monday. My fiancé drove down from Dubai, arriving at 6:20 am. There were 8-10 people in line already. There were two lines: immigrant and non-immigrant. Eventually she was moved in to the non-immigrant line. She left her purse in the car, only walking in with her documents, wallet and phones. All phones were turned off and held at the guard desk. She entered around 7:20.

When she entered she was asked to take an oath, give fingerprints and had her documents collected. They asked if she paid the fee. She did online and the person asked for the receipt. She didn't bring it with her! He said she would have to pay again and she held her ground and said no. He was joking with her. Not funny at all. He let her through. **If you pay online make sure you bring your receipt.**

She waited, and waited and waited. She sat for nearly 4 hours before being called. She said that it seemed they would call people in for interviews at random. Her position in the line didn't mean anything in terms of when she would be interviewed.

The interview lasted all of 10 minutes. The lady (CO) was very nice (We're not sure if this is the mean lady that others have mentioned). It seemed as if the CO had reviewed the case already. She asked if my fiancé knew I was divorced. She asked about my fiancés travels to see me, when she's done that. She asked about my job. Finally, she explained the new system the embassy is using to mail passports back to the applicants. My fiancé was confused and asked if that meant her case was approved. The CO said, "Oh, yes its approved!" -said with a warm smile!

**Just be prepared to wait. It seems like that was the biggest hurdle to get over. Also, make sure you have ALL documents plus the online payment receipt.**
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
