Event Description

Embassy Review : K-1 Fiance Visa - Approved but waiting for passport with visa stamped.

I have received tremendous help from VJ to prepare for my fiances interview. She had her interview recently at the New Delhi consulate and it was not very pleasant. I will leave a detailed review so that other can benefit from our experience.
Background - Our case was not as easy as many of you lucky people. We had to overcome three red flags in our case to convince CO that our relationship is genuine & bonafide. 1st - Due to unfortunate circumstances I had two prior divorces and my fiance had one. Lets admit it no one has a perfect life we all have to deal with problems & unimaginable things that had happened in the past. 2nd - I am Gujarati and she is Punjabi & she is two years older than me. 3rd - We had a simple engagement not a traditional ceremony in the presence of family members and relatives. Although everyone supported and was aware of our relationship.
Because of these issues I decided to hire an attorney paid her $ 1500 + filling fees & still received an RFE it seemed to me that attorney deliberately left out paper work to drag the case. I strongly believe this although I dont have any proofs to back it up. On top of that once she received full payment she quit working on my case & totally ignoring it, no response to emails nothing. Than I decided to take the matter into my hands and started researching document requirements, read others experiences on VJ etc.
K-1 Interview Day: After booking for an appointment my fiance went to an interview at 9 in the morning she was there all day until 4 pm. She was interviewed 4 items by different members and had to go through FBI type interrogation she almost cried but still did not give up & continued to answer all the questions honestly & to the best of her knowledge. Most people get basic questions such as how did you meet, wedding plans etc. But she was asked almost every possible questions that you can think of. To the extent that an announcement was made to request her cell phone. Her uncle who was waiting outside gave the ph to the security guard and then the staff members started calling random numbers from her phone to verify if all the details are true. This includes calling 10 to 15 people, her work place, checking photo gallery, emails etc. Luckily all the relatives who received the call gave a very positive response and supported her. In the end the CO was finally convinced and said your visa in approved you may collect it within 4 days. My only advice to everyone is be prepared, take as many proofs as possible, document everything do not give up or get nervous even if someone tries to trick you. In the end if your relationship is genuine it will be revealed and they will have no choice but to approve. I had given all the information. She knows just about everything about me and loves me dearly. And i too have great feelings & respect for her. Good luck to all of you & I hope you all have a bright and wonderful future.
Rating : Very Poor

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
