Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : Seattle
POE Date : 2016-08-13
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : My fiancee and I flew to Seattle together. I got in the non-citizen line with her and we approached the immigration counter together. The officer could not have been nicer. He was all smiles the entire time and kept saying congratulations. We were ushered to a secondary inspection area where we waited for about an hour since there were a number of individuals ahead of us. All of the immigration officers were very respectful. Thank you Seattle!

Embassy Review : Visa interview process

Check-in Process:

Entered consulate office for security check at 7:45am, gave numbers at 8:00am and waited 30 minutes for interview. The interview itself was less than 5 minutes, my fiancée walked up said good morning sir with her Australian accent, he smiled and it was obvious that he was happy she spoke English well, consulate officer spoke very quickly in English after that, consular officer wanted to get interview over with as fast as possible, she came out at 8:45am.

Inside the consulate:

First window - get number
Second window - take birth, marriage, non-criminal record, open envelope from medical examine (zone a)
Third window - interview (zone b)

Interview Questions Asked:

How we met
When we met
Take finger prints on machine at window
When did you get married(trap question)
Where does fiancée live
What's fiancées job
How old is fiancée, how old are you
When is last time you saw him(I was outside)
What degree do you have
where did you go to school
When did you live in Australia
How many times have you been to America
On her last trip to US(September 2015), which spawned this whole application, her visa was cancelled and she withdrew her addmision to enter US. Officer asked her to explain what happened
Did you meet his parents
Did you read the small booklet that came with P4?

"Be happy, your visa is approved. Go home and wait now. Any questions?"

It felt like he already had his mind made up after first couple questions and wanted to move on to next candidate.

Officer only examined most recent W2 and I-134 only. Did not want to see pictures or anything else. We were heavily prepared with full financial profile, 3 years tax returns, pay stubs, employment letter, detailed travel history together, communication evidence, cover letter from attorney summarizing materials.

As has been mentioned in other posts, a lot of denials happen in GZ...here's what we could gather...

People that were denied did not have requested materials
People who could not speak English very well had much longer interviews
Lots of older people getting denied, applying for K3
Arguing with Consular officer after they came unprepared, never a good way to get what you want

If you're real, you'll have no issues. Respect the process and come prepared.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
