Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 1, 2016
Embassy Review : After 11months of waiting today was my interview date. I was very much nervous rather than excited. Got up at 4am in the morning and started getting prepared for the interview. My appointment time was at 7.30am at the Mumbai Consulate. When I reached there with my mother at 6:30am already saw alot of people waiting on the opposite side of the road. I asked the guard and he told me to wait there and will let us enter at 7am. At 7am there were two lines one for 7:30am interview and another for 8:00am interview.

Went inside there was security check and after that we all stood in the line. Then we were given a token. Then two girls were checking with the documents. One of them came to me and asked for my passport,PCC,Birth Certificate,Marriage Certificate,Stamped DS260,2 passport size photos (original and xerox). Told me to keep them out. Then i was called at Window Number 9,where there was an Indian man. He said

Indian man: Goodmorning
Indian man: Who is petitioning you
Indian man: What is his name
Indian man: What is your parents name
Indian man: Are you a student?
Indian man: Have you ever visited US? How many times? Any other country? Which country and for how many days?
Indian man: Who is Richard? (My joint sponsor, father in law)

Then gave me a pamphlet,a bunch of papers I sent to USCIS and told me to read and said All The Best for your interview.

Waited for 40-45mins when my name was being called by the CO at counter number 12. He was super nice.
Me:Goodmorning
CO: Raise your right hand (took oath that all papers submitted are true to my knowledge)
CO: Hi,Goodmorning
CO: Who is petitioning you?
CO: What is his name?
CO: What does he do?
CO: Whom does he live with?
CO: What does his parents do?
CO: Arrange or love marriage?
CO: Wow! how did that happen? (Cause we met eachother on internet through fb)
CO: He came all the way to only meet you? WOW!
CO: Where and when did you get married?
CO: When and where did you get engaged?
CO: Your visa is approved.

It was only like 5mins and the last sentence made me cry and the CO started saying dont cry and started smiling. I said have been so long so far away. He said enjoy with your husband and gave me two papers with Visa approved and where to pay the green card fees. Didn't ask for any proof when I carried like 500papers,200photographs. Best day in our lives. God bless all of us.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
