Comments : Was already married to my U.S. spouse and he lived with me in Canada. But, then we decided to move back to the U.S. when my spouse found out they could get their old job back. So, I entered as a "visitor" and we filed the concurrent I-130 and I-485 together. A couple of "haters" on this site tried saying I committed fraud. That just wasn't the case. I researched everything from Preconceived intent and the 30/60 day rule. But, none of those apply to Immediate Relative cases. Also, never was asked my intent or length of stay in the U.S. when I first entered. And, silence cannot legally be charged as misrepresentation.

During the interview, the officer didn't even ask about the circumstances of my entry. She just asked the date. The interview was pleasant and, I was confident of approval.... which I got. So.... IN YOUR FACE HATERS!!!!

Event Description

Embassy Review : Interview was at 10:15 am. We drove by the building around 9:15 am and they prefer you don't arrive till 30 minutes before the interview. So, we turned right on Jefferson Ave. and got gas at the BP station and then went a mile up the road to a McDonald's. Had a quick brunch and headed back. There was no parking outside the ground level of the building so we parked above ground on the 2nd level. Went through security and they were nice. Then, took my interview notice to a guy at a desk. He was nice too and stapled a ticket to it and told us to take it to the last window in the waiting area. A couple ladies took the notice and said my name would be called when it's time for my interview. So, we sat and noticed 2 chairs at each of the 8 windows. We wondered if that's where the interview was?!?! But, then then I noticed a door on a far wall where officers would come out and call names. We sat down around 10 am and I wasn't called till around 10:30 am. As soon as I saw the officer, she smiled. My spouse and I were kinda shocked she had a foreign (European) accent but, didn't mind whatsoever. She led us down a couple hallways with lots of offices on either side. We got to her office and she said "I need you to remain standing for a minute, while you take an oath." So, we did that and then she said we could sit. The interview was very straight forward. She updated our address as we have our own house now. We were living with a friend when we first came back to the U.S. And, because my partner lived with me in Canada for 7.5 years, it was pretty obvious we were in a legit marriage. At the end of the interview, she said that I was approved and I will probably get my Greencard in about 2 weeks.

When we were about half way home from the interview, I also got a phone call from the mid-Michigan office of U.S. Senator - Debbie Stabenow. It was the same lady that had helped me get my EAD/AP expedited. She wanted to let me know that she had noticed my I-485 status had updated to say a card is being generated. I told her we were actually on our way home from just having the interview and I was approved. So, she said "congratulations" and said that if I ever need the Senators help for anything, to just give them a call. So, that was nice!!!

This was a very good experience. But, I'm glad that it's finally over after 8 months!

Of course there's still U.S. citizenship. And, the interviewer said that I can apply for that 3 months prior to the 3rd anniversary of today.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
