Embassy Review : Our interview was yesterday tuesday september 22 at 7am. I arrived to the country on Monday afternoon. We stayed at a really clean hotel in Gazcue called Hotel Riparbella. Very affordable and close to el malecon. We decided to take a cab to the embassy because it is now very far away and we are not from Santo Domingo so we dont really know it well and we were just too excited and preferred to relax and get driven ovee there. We got there at around 6:15 am, the lines were long already at that time. Geez.. people who had interviews at 9am were already there. That was insane. Be careful with the buscones they are everywhere and they will tell you that you need to"staple" your pictures and that you can do it for free at the "office" (there is no office) do not listen to these people. We do NOT have to staple anything. At exactly 7am lines started moving and they started letting people in. There is a lady crossing off the names on a list and I was given priority to go in because of huge pregnant belly. LOL. Anyhow.. the new embassy is huge and clean and super comfortable. So we get in and theres a lady giving tickets with numbers on it. We get #140 and they started at #100. They moved soooo fast it was insane.. in about 20 mins we were called. We were called to window 1, very nice dominican lady, very young. Gets our interview letter and number. She goes and gets our case file.. I was super prepared. I had copies of everything with me because since our case was expedited i didnt think NVC would send the IV package that I had sent them (i sent them the IV package as soon as i received my invoice number). Always be a step ahead. Turns out NVC sent EVERYTHING i sent them (thank God). She asked if we had any kids together and i told her i was expecting, she wrote something on the file.. then she asked for original birth and marriage certificates and asked if any of us has ever been married and i said i was (she asked for my divorce decree, and thank God I had it with me. If you have been married before please take it with you. She didnt ask for extra pictures or anything else. And gave me a piece of paper to go to the cashier and pay the visa fee since our case was expedited we didnt pay NVC. When we get to the cashier, the system was down so we couldnt pay. It was 7:55am at this time and the only thing holding us off from the interview was that payment. We had to wait over an hour for the system to be up. It was around 9:30 when we finally paid, went back to window 1 and gave her the receipt. She said we would be called for the interview by our original number. I was so ready to leavee.. and so anxious. 45 mins later we get called by window 14, very nice young caucasian guy. He swore us is and proceeded with questions,
-what are your names?
-do you have any children?
-to my husband, where does your wife live?, how did you meet? How long have you been togethere? Why is she is Houston? Have you ever been arrested? Have you ever travelled? Do you have any family in the US?(i answered for him on this one, he was sooooo nervous, he forgot his grandma lives in Puerto Rico, hahah.. it was hillarious)
After that, he said CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED.
Best statement I heard all day. We were so happy we kissed and the love ofy life started crying. It was so amazing. God is sooo great... today the Ceac status changed to Visa Issued. I already bought his ticket... we are beyond grateful to our dear lord, the wait is finally over...
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
