Consulate Review: Ukraine
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 10, 2015
Embassy Review : We had our interview today, and our experience matched what others have said here. There is a large and not well organized line waiting to get through security. My fiancé forgot his appointment letter, so we had to race back to the hotel to get his phone so we could show that at the security check in.

Note: Feel free to bring your phone -- they will check it at security.

So, as a result, we arrived at 8:45 am for an 8:30 am appointment. And, that was not a problem. So, breath easy. After we got through security, we proceeded across the courtyard into the consular services section. He was called up immediately to drop off our documents. And, we only had a short wait to proceed up to window 13. We both came up. The officer was friendly, swore in my fiancé. Had a brief conversation in Russian. The basic questions were how we met, how we communicated, where I lived, where I worked, etc. All very easy questions. The CO also provided the IMBRA information as required.

When he was done, he said, "You will have 90 days to get married. Your visa is approved."

We were done and in a cab by 9:45. So, total time was about 45 minutes. Very fast and easy.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Washington DC
Event Description
Entry Date : 2016-01-17
Embassy Review : Our entry at Dulles Airport (Washington, DC) was easier than I imagined. As recommended, I asked the guide about which line to use. She said that since I was a US citizen, we should use the US Citizen line, and start with the automated machines. I was able to enter my data, but not my finance's. We were then directed to go to the queues to speak with a CBP officer. There, she finished processing my entry and then processed the K1 entry. She asked for the sealed envelop and then only asked about the wedding date. No further processing was needed. Total time (minus waiting in lines and me at the machine) was easily less than 5 minutes. I never imagined it would be so fast and simple, especially for a same-sex couple.
Harassment Level : Low

Greg & Vladimir, Hello, I live about 2 hours south of you. The reason I am writing is our timelines are very similar as to dates, service centers etc. On your timeline you list under lifting conditions, you were approved 06-10-19, Svitlana, my wife, was approved 06-13-19. You listed 06-13-19 as date green card was recieved. Is this correct? Our reason is, we called may 29th and was told my wife could use extension letter and expired green card to travel to and from Ukraine ( her father very sick), however, approval letter said her green card ordered but may take up to 60 days. we called yesterday with the answer that the only way to travel now was to make an appointment at field office for a I-551 stamp and a immigration lawyer will call her in 2 or 3 days. The only difference in our timelines is we were transferred may 7th to Potomac Service Center and I do not believe you were by your timeline information. Sorry for long message but wanted to give you a little background. Thanks in advance. Kerry

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
