Comments : POE at IAD was a breeze, no problems whatsoever--I didn't even have to go through secondary. Both the lines to get to a CBP officer and the lines to get through security again were quite long so if IAD is not your final stop, I'd recommend at least a three or four hour layover to be sure you can make it to your next flight.

Consulate Review: Serbia
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : My experience at the US Embassy in Belgrade was great as usual (I've interviewed for a couple of non-immigrant visas there before): everyone was very polite and organized and the whole process took about two and a half hours. The consul that interviewed me asked me about my previous trips to the US, whether I've lived someplace other than Serbia (and the US), a few things about my wife (current employment, etc.) and they looked the pictures of the two of us I brought asking a few basic questions about some of them (where the pic was taken, the occasion, when was it taken, etc.) and a couple of more really basic questions about some of the things from my application before approving it and wishing me luck for my future life the US. After the interview I went back to a window and I was offered the choice between coming back to the embassy to pick up my passport when my visa is printed or to have it delivered to a DHL office of my choice. Since I'm not from Belgrade, I chose the latter and my visa packet arrived at my local DHL office two business days after my interview. All in all, a great experience.

One note: if you're coming to interview for an immigrant visa, be sure to let the embassy employees doing roll call outside the embassy know that since they generally call the names off the, much longer, non-immigrant visa list and you'll be on a separate immigrant visa list.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
