Comments : Our interview was at 9:00 am, but the day before we had another appointment at Galeria 360 in Santo Domingo for fingerprints and pictures to be taken, You must do this if you are getting the IR-1/CR-1 visa only, the service is free, once you go to galeria 360 your fingerprints and pics are sent electronically to the consulate. If you don't do this step you will not get inside the consulate for interview unless you show them a paper of Comfirmation that you get when you go to Galeria 360.
I decide to go with my son of 2 years old to the interview with my wife. We got there at 7 am in case any documents I didn't have were missing, but I know I had everything, but you never know.
Went through check point, remember not to carry your cellphones with you and any other items that might be dangerous, my wife took a bottle of water and they made her take a sip of water to make sure it wasn't contaminated or poisoned.
We were directed to go inside the building, we walked through a backyard, once we got inside we were given a tikect #262. Inside the embassy was packed with people so the security inside told us to go outside to the backyard and wait there to be called. Outside at the backyard, there is a personnel that work with the embassy that will let you know if your number has been called. We were called at 10 am to window 4 to summit the documents and an hour later at 11 am we were called for the interview. We were greeted by a young American woman in her late 20s, she was very polite and spoke to us in Spanish, she asked us around 10 basic questions that wife and husband should know. when and how we met? The names of her parents and mines, how many siblings to both of us and their names, the she asked us if we had any pictures, That was it.
Then she was writing something in the computer and then said congratulations and going to approve you your visa and once she said that we smile and kissed. Then she ask me about my son, what were my plants for my son, and I told her that I had an appointment for his American passport and she asked me on what date? And I said on the 10th of this month.
I received my wife's passport on the 18th and my son's American Passport on the 24th.
We are very happy that we are going to be finally together.
I wish everyone who has an upcoming interview the very best and always be prepared.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
