Consulate Review: Moscow, Russia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 24, 2015
Embassy Review : The interview was fairly painless and simple. We were clearly over prepared, but we wanted to be safe and not have to return. My fiancee arrived 30 to 40 minutes prior to interview. She waited outside in a line with others. The security guard collected passports and checked to a list in his shack. Once cleared everyone entered consulate at same time. Again she entered another line to check same information. She bypassed the cell phone check in (she did not bring cell phone). There were arrows and paths marked on the floor directing candidates to windows and places. One the first floor she handed her passports to person behind the window and was returned with a green sheet. She was told to follow the red spots on the flor and went to the second floor of building. On the second floor she handed her green sheet and handed many documents t her. Now it was time to wait.

My fiancee waited about two hours before being called back to the interviewer. The interviewer was a man and was very nice and friendly. he smiled a lot and relaxed my fiancee. He asked how we met, where we met in person, and qualities she liked in me. He also asked my step son a few questions, his favorite sports, and what grade he is in. Overall the interview lasted about 10 to 15 minutes and he told her that the visa was approved.

The interview was on a Tuesday and the following Monday the two passports w/ visas arrived by courier.

My fiancees opinion is that the officer wanted to see her emotions about me, and feelings about me. He looked very interested in her answers and body language. The questions were easy, but semi-personal. He showed true interest.

Overall the process was simple, but the interviewer lighten the mood and made you feel relaxed. We were over prepared for documents. He didnt ask for any Skype logs, Viber logs, pictures, nothing ! In fact her handed back the photos that were included in our case file to my Fiancee.

My advise is to follow the directions provided by the Moscow website. Try and relax, and stay focused on the bigger goal. You will look back on this visa process and smile.

Hello and congratulations on successfully arriving to the end of this process. I am still waiting and would be grateful if you respond to a few questions. - Did your interview said it is combined interview and your spouse should be with you? - What questions were asked from you and your spouse during i-751 interview? Thanks and good luck

So to be clear. My wife is/was the GC holder. I was interviewed first. The IC asked me How we met? Where did we meet the first time? Where did we get married? Has she met my family and friends? Have I met her family? My conversation was about 15 to 20 minutes. The IC then took my wife back and asked same questions in reference to the I-751. He was happy with answers then asked her civics questions related to the N-400. There is about 100 questions they "could" ask. You need to get 6 out of 10 questions correct. There are plenty of study guides online to use. She got the first 6 correct, so they moved onto the next part of the civics test. She had to write three simple sentences in English, and passed that with no issues. Once again there are study guides to help online. The whole time she was speaking in English so that part of test was skipped. My wife is very fluent in English. She passed her civics test with little issues. the IC then said that he would get her scheduled for a oath swear in at the court house. This could be up to 8 weeks for this step. I hope this information helps.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
