Comments : Our appointment was at 9am. We stayed at a hotel near the beach and due to traffic it took us about 30 minutes to get to the embassy.
The embassy has no parking. We parked in an empty lot that someone had turned into a parking business. We walked about 1 block to the entrance. On the way someone stopped us to ask if we needed passport size photos or photocopies of our documents. We arrived at the embassy at 7:45 am. There was a line of about 30 people outside. However, because we were there for a resident Visa we did not have to wait in the line. We passed through security. Cell phones, cameras, make-up, and cigarettes are not allowed inside. We were given number 227. At about 9:07 we were called to the window. The woman asked for the original documents including: marriage certificate, birth certificate, medical exam documents, the beneficiary's passport, and the police certificate. She asked me (the petitioner) for my home address and phone number. She asked the beneficiary for his home address and phone number. She asked for a 2x2 photo of the beneficiary. She then returned the photo.
She held onto the medical exam documents and passport and returned the other documents. She gave us our number and gave a brochure about domestic violence to the beneficiary and explained that he should read it before the second part of the interview. She then asked us to sit down and wait to be called. We were called for the second part of the interview at 12:04.
First the beneficiary was asked to raise his right hand and he was asked to swear to tell the truth.
Our interview was incredibly short and simple.
She asked the beneficiary if he had every applied for a spousal visa.
She asked us how we met.
She then asked if our daughter was born in the Dominican Republic.
She looked over the documents and said that everything looked good and that she was going to approve the visa. She gave him a paper explaining how to pick-up the visa or schedule home delivery. We walked away happy and relieved.

We are finally together in the USA. Entered US customs/immigration at the Orlando, FL airport. We had no problems.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
