Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 1, 2014
Embassy Review : I arrived at the USEM around 5am today, Dec.1,2014. There were a lot of people lining up already for the immigrant line. I searched through the crowd to line up in the K1 applicants line and guard directed me where to line up.
The line in the K1 applicants line was still short, like I think I was the 10th applicant lining up in there.
We waited for like an hour or so before they let us go through the tent where they collected the DS-160, Online Interview Appointment confirmation and passport on every applicant and they put sticker on our passports and put it in a zip lock. They then gave us a number (to be used all throughout the process) with the attached list of docs to be prepared.
Next, we went though security checks, gave the same docs we prepared at the tent on the gate counter where the lady wrote something on it and said to drop it at window 39. We went inside and the guard said to give our docs to the girl employee who was assisting the applicants. The girl then instructed us to wait for our number to be flashed on the screen cause she will just be the one to drop the docs at window 39.
And so the waiting game began.
Waited for my number on my screen for finger scanning at window 42. The Filipino CO was nice and he asked me some questions and the documents needed then instructed me to wait again for the next step.
Next was the oath taking at window 65, the American CO there was nice too and she asked me my queue number, then I proceed to read the oath in English (can be read in English or Tagalog). And after that, she then she instructed me to put my right hand's four fingers on the scanner and then instructed me to wait for my number again to be called.
Then, after a long wait, I think more than an hour, my number flashed on the screen and I proceeded to Window 60. I greeted the american CO, he responded and he seemed nice too, he asked me questions like: What is the name of my petitioner, What his job, How old is he, When was the last time I've seen him..
He then said, "Okay, your application is complete. Please wait for your number to be called for further instructions."
That was it! Took only a minute! I couldn't believe it was the final interview cause it was just like that.. I thought I would still have the final interview. Honestly! lol :D
I waited for like 30 minutes or so, when the assistant/greeter started calling random numbers and instructed us to line up to Window 72.
The guy in there asked me my name, then said, "Okay, pwede ka nang umuwi". I said, "REally? does that mean I am approved?" and he answered "YES".
I then asked the greeter guy if I still need to give them my delivery address, he said , "no need if you applied online".
So, that was it! I was done by 11am.
Exited the USEM right away with a big smile on my face. YEHEY!!! :D
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
