Comments : We have been waiting to be able to convert our Civil Partnership to a Marriage to submit our I-130. We had our conversion on December 11th 2014 and posted our I-130 the same day. We sent it next-day delivery.

NOA1 email received on December 18th stating our NOA1 date as December 15th with an estimated 30-45 days to receive adjudication.

We looked back through some saved files of our I-130 and spotted that I had omitted to put the beneficiaries parents DOB's on the form. We couldn't recall if this was an earlier saved document or if we had actually sent in an incomplete form. Contacted the USCIS via email and they informed us that the I-130 was approved today (26th Jan 2015) and we would received confirmation in the post in the next few days.

NOA2 arrived on 27th January stating that we should recieve our Case number within 5-8 weeks.

NOA3 arrived 29th January!!! Not a typo!!! Two days after receiving NOA2 our NOA3 popped through the door. Since we are ready for interview I completed and submitted the DS-260 and booked medical for 9th February on the same day. Application of readiness also submitted 29/01/15.

9 February 2015 - medical. I arrived about 30 minutes early as the walk was a lot shorter than I thought. I was asked to wait in reception until 5 minutes before my appointment then return to the desk with my paperwork. Handed in paperwork and was given a questionaire to fill in that would be discussed with the doctor. I was clalled to meet a nurse who informed me that I needed to immunisations (tetanus and flu). I decided to have them there and pay the fee. Next met with doctor. Talked through my medical history and he made notes about previous surgery and treatment. He provided me with a pro-forma for my GP to sign and return regarding previous treatment. The physical exam was standard and quick. Chest X-ray followed then collected paperwork from reception and paid the fee. Staff very friendly and efficient.

Interview on March 17th. Very straight forward and approved. Full review on embassy page.

Event Description

Embassy Review : Following advice from members on VJ I arrived super early and was about number 20 in the queue. Staff came down the line and checked appointment times. Since mine was 9:00am they asked if I wouldn't mind going for a coffee and popping back after that.

When I returned the queue was much longer but moving at a steady pace and when I was about 15 from the front my appointment letter was checked and as I was there for an I mmigrant visa I was walked through to security.

The hall was pretty full when I got in and I waited about 20 minutes to be called to the first desk. The chap there took my passport, birth certificate and police certificate. I had to write my name on the back of two photographs. He then took my fingerprints then told me to make payment at the cashier and to return to him.

When I return he asked if my husband had given me the I-864 form and his IRS statement. He checked when my partner went back to the US and since this was recently he also wanted to know if I had evidence from investments etc... I had with me our house valuation and statements from bank accounts in Texas. He took these and told me to wait until I was called for interview.

After a further ten minute wait I was called up. The girl at this desk swore me in and verified my fingerprints. She asked how I had met my husband and where we got married. She was very pleasant and mentioned that her brain was fried from doing so many visas! She was interested to know that I was a teacher and asked what subject I taught and age groups. All the while she was stapling various bits of paper together and I noticed at one point she checked and signed in a box on the I-864 form that I met the criteria for approval! I relaxed a bit after that.

Next she simply said "I'm happy to approve your visa; welcome to the United States of America". And then "That's it, your done". It was all so quick I asked her "Is that it, do I need to do anything?" And she replied "That's it, I believe you and trust your application now go and get a coffee".

I was in the building probably around an hour from start to finish.

All and all a very well-oiled machine.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
