Event Description

Embassy Review : To begin sorry it has taken so long to write this review. My hubby's interview was on Jan. 8, 2015. This information is based on what he has told me. His interview was at 11:00am. He arrived at the embassy around 10:30am. He was the last person called to be interviewed. According to Hubby he was asked the following questions:

CO: Who petitioned for you?
Hubby: Answered
CO: Where did you meet your wife?
Hubby: Answered
CO: Did she respond immediately to your FB request:

CO: Where does your wife work?
Hubby: Answered
CO:What does she do?
Hubby: Answered
CO:Have you been married before?
Hubby: Answered
CO:Has your wife been married before?
Hubby: Answered
CO:Do you have any children?

CO:Does your wife have any children?

CO: How do you communicate?

CO: How often do you communicate?

CO asked to see call logs. Asked hubby why the call logs I sent had 0min. Even though I explained this to him he forget. Hubby said he had his own call logs outside with his friend. The CO officer did not ask for them, instead she she stated it may be where I tried to call him and couldn't get through.
CO: How many times have your wife visited you?
Hubby: Answered
CO:Where were you married?
Hubby: Answered
CO:Do you have pics?
Hubby: Showed pictures from one of the photobooks

My hubby said, the lights flickered and the officer was satisfied with the few photos and he showed. After the officer told him he was approved for the visa and gave him the information on where to pick it up. He had a binder full of information, including all the forms I sent to USCIS, additional chat records, emails, tax information, etc. However, the officer did not ask him to see any of it.

My Husband said his interview took 5 mins or less. When he was asked questions the officer would barely allow him to answer before saying ok as if she was already satisfied before he answered questions. What made a difference for us was of course front loading. I was worried that I didn't send enough, however it was as if the officer had already made a decision before he came to the interview. I believe it was the quality of evidence I sent not the quantity.

The greatest advice I can give for my fellow Nigerian's preparing to interview.

1.) PRAY AND PRAISE GOD.( We prayed and prayed and prayed. And God Blessed my hubby to have a soft interview and gave him the wisdom to answer questions boldly).God is so good and I thank Him for all He has done for me and my family.

2.) BE PREPARED. TAKE ALL OF YOUR INFORMATION. (My hubby had met a gentleman who had been put into AP because when the officer asked him forms, the man would simply say his wife sent the forms to NVC before.) Click this link to find that provides tips on how to organize you interview documents.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/324161-how-to-organize-your-documents/

I will say my hubby went a step further and used posted notes for each form so he would know what was what so do what works best for you. Also, the partition (The window between you and the CO) is not huge to pass documents through. A regular 8X8 photobook is too big.

3.) BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU SEND TO USCIS AND NVC. ( For example, don't send any communication that discusses Visa's or the immigration progress. Before my husband was interviewed, he could hear and see a male officer interviewing another man who was called for his interview before my hubby was. The officer was grilling him hard about a photo the man had sent in of he and his wife in the bed (My hubby believes this was done to show they have had sex as a means to show their relationship was real). The officer asked the man who took this photo, the man told the officer his friend. The officer told called the man out saying and your supposed to be married, why would you take a picture like this when your friend is present. The man told the officer he and his wife were in a romantic mood, but it had not gone that deep yet. My hubby said the officer looked at him two separate times when he was interviewing the man when my hubby was in the waiting room. My hubby said he turned his head away so that officer would not look at him. Ironically this is the same officer my husband wanted to be interviewed by until he heard this mans interview....lol.I believe he said this man was still being interviewed when he was leaving.) 4.) KNOW YOUR SPOUSE AND BE CONFIDENT. (We did several mock interviews before his real interview.) This guide was used:

5.) FOLLOW ADVICE GIVEN HERE ON VISA JOURNEY. Especially the 1st post that is posted under DWHEELS moving interview threads for which your interview will be. For Example: My interview was in January 2015, so I was apart of the December 2014 Interview thread. (Information here on VJ helped me be prepared and it helped me prepare my husband. If there are ever any questions you have ask them here, as this is the best place where I have found useful information.) Check out February 2015's thread March 2015 will be posted soon:

One last bit of information. My hubby stated some people who were being interviewed were denied for K1 interviews, then got married and refiled. He heard some of these interviews taking place and felt like their interviews were harder and more intense.

I hope this information is helpful. May God Bless you and your family to be reunited soon.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
