Consulate Review: Dominican Republic
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 9, 2014
Embassy Review : The Banco Popular reciept we did not need. As long as you paid the AOS and Visa application on line your good.

1. Be there at the embassy early (our appointment was at 6:45 am and we got there at 5:15am and we were close to the door. They seperated the lines by visas and then you go through metal detectors. (dont listen to the people in the yellow shirts telling you what u cant bring in. They say watches are not allowed and the ones that dont work. My husband didnt listen to me and let them hold his watch and he had to pay 200 pesos when we came out. I was like im not from your country and I know more than you.)

After you get in you sit on a bench and wait to go in and then once you get in you get a number and wait to be called.

2. Have ready Marriage cert, birth certificate, passport, cita letter and buena conducta paper

3. When you see them staple a green ticket u know ur gonna be approved.

4 Then you go to have finger prints taken

5 Wait for your number again and get interviewed

6 After approved Pay domenex 11 dollars

The questions they asked was

To Both
1. Our names
2. What language to have the interview in
3. How did you meet?

To my husband:
1. Does she speak english?
2. How do you communicate? Whatsapp and phone calls
3. Who paid for the wedding?
4. Did you ever have problems with police?
5. What does she do for work?

To me:
1. How did I learn spanish?
2. Did you ever have a dominican boyfriend before?
3.Questions about other travel I had outside us
4. Why didn't I ask for my daughters father instead to get him papers
5. Where I work
6. How much I make a year?

And asked to see Pics
To me:
7. Where did I go for semana santa?
My husband answered puerto plata lol I said thats my question. The man said yes I asked her. lol
8. Where did we stay
9. How long was I there for on that trip?
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
