Event Description

Embassy Review : We stayed at Marble Arch Inn, "cheapest expensive" hotel that we could find that is close to the U.S Embassy. The hotel was about a 15 minutes walk to the Embassy.

We got up around 5 am and we left out by 6:15. Security told us that they will be setting up tables so we just sat outside the Embassy to wait. Around 6:45 they started to set things up and at 7:30 the line began. We were the first in line and we showed them our paperwork and they verified everything and told us to wait for security to check again. We were then turned away because my fiance had a laptop luggage tote with wheels(it was not allowed because it has wheels) the crazy part is the woman that checked our documents first told us that his bag was ok to enter but she said that it depends on what the person. They allowed him to take the same bag in for his tourist visa appointment. They instructed us to go to the pharmacy down the street (2 minutes walk) to lock our things up. It cost us about £5. We walked back within 10 minutes and went straight to the front of the line to go through security. We went through the front entrance which is technically on the side of the building. At 7:47 The receptions checked us in put some sticker with barcodes and a number on his appointment letter. We went to that left in a room with a lot of chairs and sat down. Promptly at 8:00 they started to call numbers. Our number was called at 8:26 to go to window 13. The nice lady asked my fiancé for the Ds160, confirmation of visa fee payment, passport photographs, original police certificates(UK police certificate and Nigerian police certificate...note: Nigerian certificate was expired but since he has not been back to Nigeria and has not been arrested since he obtained that police certificate, it is still valid) , original birth certificate, passport and affidavit of support with evidence. She gave him back the chest Xray results and told him to bring it with him to the US. She was very nice and she asked me about my dress and was overall friendly. That took us about 10 minutes. About 45 minutes later they called our number. We walked to window 16 and had to wait because a man was speaking to our interviewer and security had to escort him out because he was denied and begging for him to reconsider his visa. When they escorted him out...we walked to the window. He gave my fiancé the oath and the interview began. He was training someone and he told us that so that we would be aware of what was going on. He looked through the documentation. He stated that he was going to begin the interview. We stood there while he was giving his trainee info about the steps he needed to do. They talked a few minutes then he asked my fiancé "...how did you meet your fiancé? What specific website? When did we meet physically? How many times have i visited and exactly when i visited and length of stay? Has he ever visited the US? Has he met my family?". He handed back the Affidavit of Support. Spoke with his trainee again. Voided out my fiancés tourist visa and told us that our visa has been APPROVED!!! He told him that he will receive his passport back when they finish processing it. It was so simple and easy. Nothing to be worried about.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
