Comments : First, I went in one of the "visitors" booths. The officer there took my sealed envelope and my passport. He also took a photo of me. Then, he put my stuff in a plastic folder and escorted me to the Tripod. I waited there for about 30'. The airport was very busy yesterday!
The officer at the Tripod never took my fingerprints. He asked me a few questions:
-What did you come here to do? - I came here to get married!

-When are you planning to do that? - (Gave him the date)

-And you're going to stay? - I will apply for AOS

They did not keep my x-ray. I told them that, according to the Embassy, I was supposed to deliver it at the POE. He said: No, we are not doctors! Keep it and give it to your doctor to have it in your medical history.

They also asked me several times if I have any food with me and what kind of food was that. I told them. They never asked to search my suitcases.

After typing some of my data in their system, they gave me a sheet with information for my next steps, handed me my stamped passport and wished me Good Luck!

That was it! As simply as it could be!

Consulate Review: Athens, Greece
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 30, 2014
Embassy Review : The whole process was very smooth. I spoke with two ladies. The first one got the papers I had been asked to bring with me and asked me some questions. She also gave me back my x-ray and told me that I should bring it with me at the POE. The conversation was in Greek. Then I had to wait for about two hours before I talked to the consul. She asked me if I speak English, I said yes, and then she had me swear that the papers I submitted and the information I was about to give was truthful, according to my knowledge. Then, she took my fingerprints and asked me more or less the same questions as the first lady, wanting to know more details. The questions were:
- How did we first meet
- When and how we met in person. If I stayed at his place and if it felt somehow strange to me.
- How many times I have been in the US and for how long.
- About our previous marriages and divorces
- If I have kids. If he has kids. How old are they. If I have met them, when and how is our relationship. If they spend a lot of time with us.
- When did we get engaged and how did he propose. If he gave me the ring right away or later and if we picked it up together or not.
Then, she said that everything seemed right with our case and my visa was approved! They informed me that I would get it in about 10 days and that they would call me to let me know. They also advised, that I shouldn't book a ticket before they call me...to be on the safe side.
I would like to say that people in the Embassy of Athens are very polite, friendly and understand the pressure that we, applicants, are under.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
