Comments : Rep first stated it was a bit unusual for K1 AOS applications to be sent to local office... but it is done during times of big backlogs. He's working on cases from Jan 2013!! Our evidence was minimal given we recently married, and he advised to continue gathering evidence for 2 yr renewal. Very pleasant and professional.

Event Description

Embassy Review : We arrived at approx 7:15 am for 8:00am appt and 8th in line. At the side door they security checked documents and passports. Because I was citizen, I was turned away and sent to Citizen entrance/waiting room. The waiting room does not open until 9am... But someone showed up arounf 8:30 with a metal detector wand and allowed me past the gate. Passed through thru metal detector into waiting room. Sat in the room until 9am when an attendant began working. I explained my problem and he said there was nothing he could do and suggested I wait out side for her. On exiting the room, I asked the same questions on the screener and she called a person named Sasha who met me outside the building. Again explained the issue and he returned with the to the Citizen waiting room and called to add me to the list. I then returned to wait in the original line using the password "i'm on the list" whenever they tried to redirect me to the citizen waiting room.
I made it passed the visa line metal screeners and then just walked up the first stairs on the left (left passed the main room of chairs then left up stairs) And another left to find my Fiance still waiting. She was called around 11am and let them know I was there. They didn't motion for me to go up, but the questioning was brief, maybe 5 minutes then she was informed that the visa should arrive in about 7-10 days.
My rating was based on the fact the apparently some days the security allows petitioners in with Fiance and other days it does not? The FAQ on the site says petitioners are encouraged to attend but provides no steps on what to do. I suppose once you get your appt date you can email the embassy requesting to attend. That may have generated a list or letter to me to present? Anyway -I'm very happy to get past this hurdle. javascript:emoticon('')

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
