Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 4, 2013
Embassy Review : I was with my fiance at her interview October 21st... it went smoothly and she
was approved. I could see that it lessened the load of the Consular when the
petitioner was with the fiance. The consular asked me some simple questions as
well as my fiance. Quetions like, how many time I visited, how many kids I had,
who was my best friend, etc. It's things fiances should know with a good loving
relationship. I was proud of my Fiance, she was nervous and eager to get it over with. I did notice that a majority of the K-1 fiance's had hand filled out
the forms and they were having problems getting them completed prior to the
first window interview and biometrics. With the new form DS-160 that has to
be filled out online, I don't know how this will change things, and I don't know
what would happend if you made a mistake on them either.

Lessons learned durring this whole process are:

Cenomar has to be current and not older than 6 months

Take your time with the process, its good that you want to be
together but one simple error and a consular that got up on the
wrong side of the bed on any given day could ruin your day

Listening to the Consulars ask questions varied, one female
was very nice and another seemed question intensive, we had
the nice one

Get there early, if your forms are done correctly you will
sail through rather than be dragged down durring the process

We were approved on Monday October 21st and didn't receive
notice that our Visa was delivered until Thursday October 31st.
We had it delived to the Mall of Asia which definately sped up
the prcess.

Do the CFO before the interview, it speeds up the trip home.

There is a CFO counter at the Airport, but don't count on getting
your sticker there. It's manned when the CFO wants to be there.

There is tax you have to pay at two counters

You can check in 3 hours early...

I booked my fiance's flight with delta while I was there because
I had to leave earlier based on the my vacation expiring before
she got her Visa... Also, you have to give yourself time to go
back to the CFO and get your sticker..

If you set your interview before Oct 7th 2013, the old forms are used
after that the new online form is used...DS-160 for K-1's

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
