Embassy Review : My interview was booked for the 10th June 2013 at 9.30am.

I arrived at the embassy at around 7.20am and there were already a few people ahead of me. Ten minutes later a security guard walked around with clear plastic bag so you could put your watch in it. About 15 mins later a lady at a desk called me forward and asked to see my appointment letter and passport. She then directed me towards a security guard who checked my letter and passport again. He then told me to wait outside the cabin door until I was called. Once the door opened I was asked if I had anything in my pockets to which the answer was no. I then had to take my jacket off and put it in a tray with my other belongings. Walked through the scanner and collected my things. I then proceeded to walk around the side of the building, up some stairs to a reception desk where another man asked me for my appointment letter. He printed off a number and stuck it to the letter and told me to head for the waiting room.
The waiting room itself is quite large. At one end there is a giant TV screen, below that screen is where you can buy refreshements. Then at 8am the numbers start being called out. The windows in the waiting area seem to deal with people who have 'N' numbers. As mine was an immigrant visa my number was I901 so are seen in a different area.

At about 8.02am my number was called to window 13, which is around the corner past the toilets. I was greeted by a young african american lady, who was all smiles. She first asked me to verify my address, she then proceeded to check through the original documents and tick them off on this form. She then said she needed to find my X-Ray disk from my medical and was gone about five mins. Once she returned she gave me the disk back, including all the original documents I had sent NVC, plus the passport photo's I had sent. Once she was happy with everything she asked to take my finger prints. Once that was done I was given a pink piece of paper, she told me to fill this in whilst in the waiting room. I would then be called for a secondary interview. That part of the interview took about ten minutes.
I sat back down in the waiting room and filled out the courier form. Within ten minutes my number was called to window 16. Once again this is around the corner past the toilets.
I was then greeted by different african american lady. She was also all smiles, which put me right at ease.
She proceed to ask me numerous questions about my husband etc.

1. Where did you meet him?
2. When did you meet him for the first time?
3. Have you met his family and where do they live?
4. When did you start talking about marriage?
5. How did your husband propose to you?

I answered them all with ease and she seemed quite happy with the responses. She then asked to take my finger prints again. After that she looked at me and with a big beaming smile said "Congratulations, your approved and welcome to the United States" I was over the moon. Told her that she'd made my day. The second interview took around ten minutes too. I was then told to queue up at the couriers desk to have my passport returned.

I was out of the Embassy by 8.50am. I just couldn't believe how quick it all went and so smoothly too. I had been worrying for months about this part but I am really happy it was easier than I imagined

POE Review: Chicago
Event Description
Entry Date : 2013-08-08
Embassy Review : Arrived at Chicago O'Hare from London at about 1.30pm. Was told to queue up at the visitors border control. Was seen by an officer within five minutes. He took the sealed envelope and put in in a pink folder. Asked for my fingerprints and was told to collect my luggage and head for customs. Once I collected my bags I went through customs and they directed me to the 'New immigrant' area. I gave the pink folder over to a customs officer and he asked me to sit and wait to be called. Within five minutes another officer called me over to a desk and asked me how long had I been married, to which I replied 16 months. He then asked for my signature on two forms plus I had to give my fingerprints once again. After this he stamped my passport and told me to head for bay number four. Here I had to load my suitcases on a conveyor belt to be scanned. After this had been completed I exited that area to be welcomed by my husband at the arrivals gate...All in all an easy POE.....

Embassy Review : Appointment for my biometrics was scheduled for 2pm, hubby and I arrived twenty minutes before hand. Went through the security check point, security staff very polite and cheerful. Was told to have my appointment letter and green card to hand. Lady called me over, I gave her my letter and card, she gave me a form to fill out and I was asked to wait until my number was called, this took about five minutes. Went in to a room where my fingerprints & photo were taken which took a few minutes. Was told by friendly staff member that I was all done and that I will either receive an interview date or my ten year green card in the mail. All in all a very quick process.

Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
