Consulate Review: Egypt
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 27, 2011
Embassy Review : Although it gave me a vibe of a Harlem's emergency room on 135th and Lenox, NY, it was a lot more organized than anticipated. Other reviews pointed out the long lines and somewhat desperate behavior of the customers, but I didn't experience anything out of the norm. Other than sitting in the room for way-too-long waiting for your number to be called several times to pay and then to interview, I must say it was a seamless, uneventful transaction.
We were #10 in the line, grabbing #510. Within minutes we'd paid the fee and DHL. We sat like what seemed forever, waiting for the interview. Both ladies were friendly: the one that checked his originals and my file and then the consular that interviewed us. They looked a little stressed, but that's understandable. I gave it 4 stars only because I think the payment and interview could be consolidated into one transaction and I believe the lack of privacy adds to the stress. Talking about personal stuff thru a microphone is a little embarrassing. Other than that, it was all good!
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
