Embassy Review : 1st April 2010

I arrived at the embassy around 8.50am and got myself into the long line at the guard house to submit IC and show them appointment letter in exchange of visitor pass. This process took around 30 minutes. After that, I went through 2 securtiy check in order to get a number before entering the waiting room. I sat there and wait for around 40 minutes to just submit my documents (I didn't photocopy my original birth cert, I thought the certified translation copy would be enough and got charged 1USD for photocopy there!o_0) and was ordered to come back at 1.30pm.

I went back at around 1pm and right away waiting for my turn in the waiting room after getting through the security check again. The room was crowded with a lot of people, youngs and olds. It was really noisy to an extend that one fo the officers was pissed off and got out of office and yelled at all of the applicants in the waiting room. Finally, after an more than an hour of waiting, my numver was called and I was attended by a middle-age american woman. She seemed to have a bad day and din't seem to be friendly. She questioned me a lot and was kinda sarcastic in a sense. She frowned so bad when she knew that we need a co-sponsor and emphasized at the age of my fiance who is 3 years younger than me. She gave me 'Not again' look when she heard that we got to know each other through a website and kept question why I am so sure he is the right one.

When I tried to talk about the relationship, she halted my speech and asked me to stop, claiming that she didn't need to listen to those. When I offered to show her the proof of relationship, she said it wasn't necessary. Thoughout the 20 mins of interview she looked kinda serious and frowned constantly and shook her head, sometimes; the thought of being denied preoocupied my mind that time but I managed to smile when dealing with her, with a heart throbbing fast.

Luckily, after around 15Qs being asked, she said that judging on the documents i submitted, no special reasons to deny the petition so I was approved. *sweat. I was relieved. Next, i was asked to wait in the room again, to be given instruction by another officer to collect the visa at the next coming day.

2nd April, 2010
I arrived at wisma MCA at 2.30pm to collect visa. I went through security check and was issued a number and then waited in the room until 3.05pm. This process was kinda fast and I received my passport and brown envelop at around 3.15pm.

It wasn't the most wonderful experience compare with others who had interview at the same embassy but at least, I was approved! That's what matter the most.

POE Review: Los Angeles
Event Description
Entry Date : 2010-06-02
Embassy Review : I arrived at the airport on a Wednesday evening. There weren't too many people around and I was asked to line up at the visitors' sections, to be checked by the custom officer. I waited 5 minutes for my turn and then was asked to submit the big envelop by an officer. He was nice and didn't ask any questions besides wearing a big smile on his face. I hand-carried my X-ray film but the office said he didnt need it.

After around 10 minutes of checking my documents, filing in my details and stamping my visa and I-94, the officer said, " Congratulation! you are good to go but remember to get married within 90 days, before your I-94 expired."

It was smooth, fast and easy. good experience.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
