Consulate Review: Ghana
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 1, 2018
Embassy Review : My husband had an appointment for 8:30am on the 23rd and he went with all the necessary documents. He gave it to a lady at one window and waited to be called. He was caled by the Consular a little while later and he asked him questions based on my household. He asked who my mother (asked by her name) was, how many people are in my house, if they all work, and how much I'm currently making. He answered all the questions well by the consular denied him based on Section 212 (a) 4. That he would be a public charge. It was very stressful at that moment for everyone to believe this had actually happened. We later realized the conclusion on his denial was completely prejudiced and intend to fight it.

This same thing just happened to me and my husband on Tuesday 11/27/18. We had everything and he was denied by a white man for the same thing. What did you do to get a second interview to get approved? I'm not accepting this. We had myself as a primary sponsor and a joint sponsor. Been married for 2 years. This has been devastating.

I met with a lawyer and I had them review the documents. They charged barely anything, which was a blessing! So all she did was review the documents and was like it doesn't make any sense. She helped me gather new documents (it was really the same documents I prepared myself). I had only made one mistake by making the total household more than it needed to be. She helped me send in the new documents and attached a letter to rebut everything they did. That was it. It took forever to hear from them but just recently in September they had my husband bring in new medical reports and police reports and his visa was issued in November. No second interview!!! That just tells me they really didn't take time to look into his documents the first time. He was issued a visa with no encounter with a consular officer. Now, we are waiting to hear from DHL to pick up his documents. I hope everything works out for you and your husband......sooner rather than later. It's almost a year since he was denied and I am yet to see him in the US.

Hi, were you denied your initial K1? And if so, how long did you wait until you withdrew your case and started the CR-1 process? My fiancee had imhis interview today and we were denied. The counselor never even looked at our documents and said that he didn't believe that our relationship was bonafide. This pasr January makes a year that we were together, I have been to Ghana 3 times within the year. The only thing that I can see why we were denied, was because of our age difference and nothing more. I'm so devastated to know that I'm not leaving here with my fiancee. Please let me know how long after your denial did you start your CR-1 process. Thank you and congratulations

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
