Harassment Level : 0
Comments : POE went super smooth. I made sure to walk fast to the customs area so I beat most of the people in line. I also told an officer managing the line that I had an immigration visa and he let me swoop it. I was able to talk to an immigration officer fast. I was standing in line for first-time visitors, by the way. There was a desk for new immigrants, but I did not go to that one. I told the officer I had an immigration visa and I gave her the envelope I got from the embassy. She took my picture and I got four fingers on my right hand scanned. Everything was fine and easy, but the officer did give me the wrong information. She told me I had to get married within 30 days, which is false. On a K1 visa you have 90 days to get married. Maybe she was new or something. Either way, the whole thing took around 5 minutes and there was no harassment.

Embassy Review : My interview took place at January 12, 2017 and was scheduled for 8:30 AM. I arrived a little after 8 and went to stand in the immigration line. I was the only one in the line. I only had to wait for one person to go before me, and then it was my turn. I showed the security officer my passport, the bottom of my shoes, took off my jacket, headband, mittens and scarf, and showed him the contents of my bag. The only things I brought was my documents, my phone, my keys, and my credit card and driver's licence. I was then let inside the glass building where the security check takes place. My items were scanned and I left my phone there as you are not allowed to bring it into the embassy. I was told to follow the yellow line and go to window 7, which I did.

At window 7, a nice, younger man approached me. I gave him all the documents he asked for. The only document he asked for which I did not have was my fiancées W2. I explained that she hadn't filed taxes for her new job yet and therefore did not have that document, and the officer was fine with it. He asked me a couple of questions, like how we met and what I am planning to do when I get to the US. I gave him pretty much all the documents I brought, even all my proof of relationship. The only documents I brought that he did not ask for was the fiancée letter of intent, the copy of NOA2, and appointment letter. He looked a little bit through photos that I had provided and asked who different people in them was. After he had collected all my documents he asked me to sit down and wait for my name to be called.

After about 10-15 minutes, my name was called and I was asked to go to window 4. The officer was a younger man as well. He asked me to say the oath and hold my hand up, which I did. The interview then started. He asked me the following questions (I may have forgotten some):

Who's *fiancées name*? (while looking at a postcard I had provided as proof of relationship)
Who's this? (pointing to people in photos)
How do you communicate?
How did you meet?
Which app? (we met through a smartphone app)
How long were you in the US when you were a student?
What does you fiancée do for work?
What do you plan on doing when you get to the US?
Are you together now?
When were you together last?
How many times has your fiancée been to Norway?

He also showed me the VAWA/IMBRA pamphlet and asked me if I had read it, which I had.
After I answered all the questions, he said that my visa was approved and that after they'd double checked the information I had provided they would issue my visa. He told me I'd get it in about two weeks.

I was out of the embassy around 9 AM, so the whole process only took about an hour. I had a nice and smooth experience. I was well prepared and had looked through my documents many times beforehand to make sure everything was perfect. If you do your research beforehand and are well prepared, it makes the whole thing much easier for both parts!

Embassy Review : Interview was scheduled at July 21, 2017. Our appointment was at 9 and we got called in for our appointment at 9:30.

Our officer was really nice! He was cracking jokes and laughing. Our interview was short: around 10 mins. He didn't really ask us any questions about our relationship except for how we met. He also went through all the questions I had to check at the I-485 application ("Have you ever committed a crime..."). He collected our marriage certificate and the other documents we brought as proof. He said he had never seen an application processed so fast before - only 3 months! He ended the interview with saying that he'd finish up our application today and I should expect my card in the mail next week.
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
