My interview was scheduled for 0915. I arrived at 0900. I was seen at 0930 by Officer Johnson. He explained to me that he is filling in for someone who called in sick and he hasn't had chance to review my case. I could see my paperwork was 3 inches thick and the inch thick RoC evidence I had provided was in a separate folder as my file was too large to contain it. He made me swear to be truthful to the questions he was going ask. He asked me when my ex-wifes birthday is, then specifics about dates and times to do with when and where we met, when and where we were married, when we separated, when I moved out, when we divorced, etc, etc. He mentioned that he needed to see my previous years tax returns (which I didn't have because I filed them separately from my wife because we had been separated 6 months by this point). He said if he needed to see them to make a decision on my case, he would send an RFE out. He then explained to me that in 4-6 weeks I would receive a judgement in the mail. If I was approved, I would receive my permanent green card approx 2 weeks later or if it was denied, there would be a reason stating why and details of how I could appeal that decision.
I will update here when I receive a judgment.

Getting to the embassy was a pain for me as I had to travel 300 miles and my appointment was at 0900 so that meant an overnight coach. The hotels are WAY too expensive for my budget in London.
I found the embassy easily as I had passed it several weeks earlier on my way to get my medical.
I began queuing at 0830 to enter the embassy. The safety screening was ridiculous. They wouldn't allow ANY electronic devices into the embassy including car keys with inbuilt FOBs in them! You could literally only bring your documents in plus whatever your normally had in your pockets (wallet, change, etc). I had to check my back at a nearby place for £8.
Once I got through the security, I entered the building and received a number like you do at a DELI counter waiting to take your order. It took 2 hours and 15 mins to get my number called! The first time it was called, I spent 5 mins at a window with a clerk on the other side who just made sure my papers were all correct, electronically scanned my finger prints, and whom I paid the $131 fee too. After this was done, he told me to sit back down and wait for my number to be called again. About 20 mins later, my number was called and went to a different window with a different clerk. This clerk also electronically scanned my right hand. This clerk made me raise my right hand and swear that I told the truth on my forms and that I will tell the truth during his questions. I agreed. His questions were as follows;
1 - Where and when did you meet your fiancée?
2 - Where and when did you propose?
3 - What sort of job are you looking for in the US?
That was it. He gave me a blue sheet that I took to the courier desk, paid my £14 courier fee and I'm now waiting for my VISA and passport to be returned.

The rating was 5/5 once I had entered the building and had seen the first clerk but overall it's a 3/5 due to the over the top nature of the security procedures and the lengthy time I had to wait. |
