Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 7, 2008
Embassy Review : Fiance went to the American Consulate in London at 9 a.m. on the date of the interview and everything appeared to go without a hitch at first. He was called to the counter at 9:15 a.m. and was asked a few questions about why we decided to move to America instead of the United Kingdom, how we met, very minor stuff. Officer asked to see the I-134 Affidavit of Support and barely glanced at it and didn't even want to see co-sponsor documents.

Then he asked for the police certificate and my fiance produced one; however they had just started taking a new police certification as of "two days ago." We were not given any notice of this policy change before our interview. Therefore, our case was suspended "pending missing documentation." As a result, we had to pay an additional $200 in courier fees and police certificate requests and are still waiting for our visa to arrive. This was needless bureaucracy and we would have appreciated the courtesy of some notice of the change.
Rating : Moderate

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
