Consulate Review: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 1, 2014
Embassy Review : I had the interview at 1:30 on a Tuesday and went there together with my wife. We arrived an hour early and there was only one person waiting in front of us. Since it was raining they put up a little tent you could wait under.

At 1:30 the guard came out and asked who had an appointment. The guy in front of us had an appointment later in the day which moved us up to first in the line. Then my wife was NOT allowed in because she was not on the invitation. When inside I first had to pass through airport-like security. DON'T bring any electronics as this can void your entire application.

Inside I had to wait for the window to open. Once it opened there was a friendly woman that checked if I had all the required documents. Since I was the first person to use a new online filing system this took a little longer than normal. After the clerk collected all my documents I was asked to sit back down.

I was called to the second window. This person asked me some simple questions on how we met and where we are going to live. Then I had to swear that I was speaking the truth with my hand up. Then I he told me I was approved and I could leave.

I spent about 30 - 40 minutes inside the embassy.

It was a very smooth process - If you have all the required documents and you didn't bring electronics or your fiance. I was just mad they left my fiance outside in the rain while she is an American Citizen.

Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
