I had my interview scheduled for Monday April 23 at 11am. exactly 10 working days after I had my medical. I emailed last week to check they had sent it, for my own peace of mind more than anything else!
I arrived about 10 minutes earlier, the lady in the tent outside took my DS-160 confirmation page and scribbled on it, went through security and went through a reception where another lady took the DS-160 and stuck some stickers on it. No queueing at all. She gave me instructions to go to Level 1, windows 21-25.
As soon as I got to the immigration area, a man at window 21 waved me over before I even sat down. He took my DS-160 confirmation, Passport, Photo, Police Certificate, Affidavit of Support and Birth Certificate. He gave me back my chest x-ray CD. He then did my fingerprints, and asked if I had been married before, and if I have lived anywhere other than the UK. I told him I was born in Zimbabwe, but have lived in the UK since I was 11. He didn't ask anything following on from that, and told me to have a seat until my number was called again.
About 10-15 minutes later, a young American lady called me to a different window and asked me to take an oath, before doing fingerprints. She was very nice too, and asked me how long I had lived in Zimbabwe, where my fiancée lives, how I met her, whether either of us had been married before, if she had her own house, and I think that was it. She gave me back my original documents the first officer had taken, and said everything was in order and that she was going to approve the visa! No further support evidence required. I was shocked and asked if that really was it...she smiled and said yes, and that I should receive my visa in 1-2 weeks! And off I went, not even 20 minutes after my scheduled interview time!
