We were told not to arrive early for the interview but we decided to go early anyway. We're glad we went early! Our appointment was at 7:30am but we arrived at 6:30am. There was a huge line outside the embassy. Thinking we couldn't go in early we waited in the line for a good 15 or 20 minutes (not able to hear what they were saying on the loud speaker). Out of curiosity, we went to the front of the line to hear what they were saying. They were saying that non-immigrants had to wait until the time of their appointment and that immigrants/residents could go in anytime! So after hearing that, we went right in (I was able accompany my wife)!

We went through security and they directed us to the first 6 windows to a guy sitting in a chair who looked at our photos and said they wouldn't work because my wife didn't show her ears. After arguing with him for a couple of minutes he told us to see what they said at the window and gave us #14. We waited for only about 30 minutes before my wife was called to the window. I went up with her to the window and no one seemed to mind. There was a nice lady that just asked for the updated police certificate, doctor's packet, and 2 photos (even though we had copies of everything the NVC had asked for).

My wife said the lady was really nice to her and told her to sit down and wait for her name to be called. We waited maybe another 30 minutes before she was called up again to another window. Her interviewer was from the United States and my wife said he had a funny accent talking to her in Spanish haha. He just asked her when and how we met. Then he gave her the packet about domestic violence, told her visa was approved, and said it would be delivered in about a week. It took a total of 3-5 minutes.

We left at about 8:30am. Everyone was really nice. The photos were just fine! We weren't there long at all. It was pretty cold though. The waiting area is like an open plaza. Bring something warm. Good luck to everyone else!

The visa was delivered to our local DHL on the following Friday and we picked it up the following Tuesday (not being in any rush). We're excited and happy for this process to be over. Everything took about 1 year (June 30, 2014 to June 12, 2015) from USCIS to visa delivery.
