We arrived at the consulate early enough to be third in line at the door. They opened the doors promptly at the opening hour and we immediately went through security (kind of like security check at the airport).

Past security we were directed to an elevator, accompanied by a suited man telling us which floor to go to. Once we got out at that floor, we were directed to the waiting room. We had to check in. Once we were called to the window we gave in a lot of paperwork and pictures, basically all the proof we had to verify our relationship (this included pictures, lease agreement, utility payments, engagement ring receipt, etc.).

After the window we waited a little less than an hour before being called to the interview room. We were asked to swear in, then sit back down. The lady asked us a few basic questions, how we met, when he proposed, what extra proof of relationship we had (which here included letters from friends and family attesting to our relationship and flight passes from travels we've taken to see each other and together.

At the end of the interview she said "You're approved." and handed me a Welcome to the USA packet and said to look out for some paperwork in the mail. Sent in my passport and went to pick it up when it was ready with my Visa in it.

All in all it went very well and it was very easy. I would suggest to avoid talking more than asked! They seem to not enjoy that!
