Fiance's appointment was scheduled for 8am. He arrived at 7am and said there was a long line of people waiting outside already. His friend accompanied him but they did not let him into the embassy. He passed through 2 security checkpoints and at one he was asked to open the medical packet.

Once inside he waited until his number was called (was given a number upon entering) and was attended first by a Nicaraguan official (woman). He said she was very nice. She asked him for the following documents:

- DS-160 *
- I-134*
- Declaración de impuestos para 3 anos mas recientes de cuidadana (tax returns)*
- 4 fotos de tamano visa*
- Cedula original (no fotocopia)*
- Exámenes médicos*
- Pasaporte*
- Record de policía*
- Recibo de pago de visa (copia de correo electronico que confirma pago de visa en linea)*
- certificado de soltería from Registro Civil in Managua*
- copia de confirmacion d... read complete review

My husband (the beneficiary) n I got there at a little after 7am, the appointment was at 8am. At the front desk the lady gave us a number and we had to wait there for a while until it was called. At the first window we gave the lady all of our paperwork - our case was expedited, so this was the first time they reviewed the AOS and IV packages. We also gave her the pictures we brought, the phone records, the wedding invitation, n papers about my trips to see him. After she reviewed everything, she asked us how we met, and how long we have been together. After we told her our story, she asked us to pay the IV fee, and then told us to wait to be called to the next window. After a while more we were called to the next window, where a guy took my husband's fingerprints, and asked him where I work, what my birthday was, what he wanted to do when he got to the states (he said study and work), what year we met and when did we started going out officially, and when did we get married. After tha... read complete review

Once we got past security and inside the embassy, they asked for the medical exam papers. They were sealed as directed by the doctor. They said we had to open them. I grabbed one to open and they said I couldn't open it there. They made my fiance (the beneficiary) go back outside the embassy to open the papers from the medical exam. Then she had to re-clear security and come back to me. that made me feel like i was back in the states! Bureaucracy at its dumbest.

Once inside, we were asked the standard questions that other people have mentioned by two different people. How did we meet, why is the wedding in the USA, what is my job and birthday. They didnt ask me anything. They didnt ask her son anything either. Then we got a paper that said once we submitted our DS 160, we would be approved. There were directions on the letter how to mail it.

That is frustrating because they would not schedule the appointment until we electronically filed the d... read complete review

The consulate is pretty quick about responding to emails. They got back to me within a few hours if I emailed them before 3pm. However, the content of the responses was not great. If I asked more than one question per email, they would pick the least important question and answer only that.

We made a mistake on the DS-160 (school dates) and emailed the consulate. They said that the consular officer would change it during the interview. The consular officer said he had no way to change the DS-160, so we shouldn't worry about it. If we had made a serious mistake, such as a DOB or name, I don't know what we would have done.

The packet 3/4 you get says to bring the I-864. Another K1 couple said that they emailed about this and were told to bring the I-134. They took both from me for some reason.

At the first window, we were asked what year we met. Neither of us were sure on the year, and I didn't want to say anything wrong, so I flipped thro... read complete review
