Had my interview at the Amsterdam Consulate two days ago and it went extremely smoothly. Everyone, from the guards to the consular officers, were very helpful and friendly. The whole process didn't take more than an hour and my visa is on the way as we speak.

WE GOT APPROVED...the long wait is (almost) over :-)
Nothing much to add to what has already been said.
Positive experience with the consulate, supper friendly workers, they make you feel confortable. I had a smooth process (second in line).
All I can say is, rehears the sample question (they ask questions based on your situation) and make sure you have all your documents with you (almost forgot the passports for both me and my son!!!) I had to rush back home before catching the train to Amsterdam. So I would advise you to leave on time and check check double check your stuff!

My interview was 9/19 at 1330--I arrived about 15 minutes early. At exactly 1330, security guards came and opened the doors to the embassy for appointments. Do NOT bring cell phones or electronic equipment--this will delay your interview.
I carried all of our documents in a backpack, so my bag was searched and I went through something like airport security before being seated in the waiting room. She asked me about my fiance's children--how many, their ages, and then asked that I sit in the waiting area again.
After a short wait (maybe ten minutes), I was called to Window #6. The man there, who was also very friendly, courteous, and supportive, asked that I swear that the information we'd provided was true, and I signed the documents that had been required be sent ahead of the ... read complete review
