Review Topic: IR-5 Visa

My mom was only asked two questions. Who is the petitioner? and What do you plan to do once you get to the US? Then she was approved!!

She was in and out in a 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

I had my follow-up appointment today - June 27, 2012 - and I got my CR1 visa and visa package in hand. Yayyyyyyy! OK, here's the LONG story, starting with the backstory.

When the CO instructed me last week to find a joint sponsor, they also cancelled my visitor visa AND my work permit, which is the usual procedure. However, that was a problem for me because I broke my work schedule in the USA to return to Jamaica for the iV interview. I pointed that out to the CO, who consulted with her colleagues then instructed me to re-apply for my work permit, then get an emergency date for that interview, so I could get back to work while my joint-sponsor and IV story was being sorted out.

I decided to focus on finding a joint sponsor. My husband worked the phones and we got 2 joint sponsors. When we got the paperwork for the first one, I scanned the info: I-864, W2s, pay stubs, citizenship evidence - as well as evidence of my work and work-related travel schedu... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Summary: VERY long wait; asked to return with joint sponsor.

Detail: My husband and I arrived at about 7:10 for my 7:30 appointment. The line was long but once I showed my appointment letter to one of the embassy personnel outside, I was directed to a much shorter line. We went through security, waited in the courtyard, and were then directed inside where I was issued a number and my husband instructed to wait in the courtyard. By this time I think it was about 8:30.

I waited for at least 1.5 hours for my number to be displayed on the monitor, for document intake. I am SO glad I carried copies of my civil documents, because I was asked AGAIN for divorce decrees and police certificate... until the agent saw that they already had some of that paperwork. I went back to my seat and waited for at least another hour to for my number to again come up, this time for my interview.

There were 3 consular officers interviewing today: 2 gentlemen, 1... read complete review

I arrived at the interview by 8am but didn't proceed to enter the embassy until 8:15. When I arrived I went to the front of the line that had formed and asked for the immigrant interview, the line outside was for the non-immigrant visa. I left all electronics and only walked with my folder and album. I reached inside by 8:29 and was told to go to the right for the immigrant section. Inside was already full. I had to stand for 15mins before I received a seat. After sitting for 2hours I was called to the 1st window where they took my finger prints and medical results. Then I had a seat again. They call the numbers randomly but what i observed is that the same order in which you do your prints, is the same order that they will call you for the interview. I also realise that the blue/yellow/green sheets are written up before you go to be interviewed, so most times if you are missing something they will know before hand and start writing up the sheets, you will then be interviewed and then... read complete review
