Is it important to be present with fiancé during K1 interview?
craig5977 replied to Purigorotta8's topic in Vietnam
I think it helps in a positive way. If nothing else for moral support plus it adds much more validity to the relationship. I attended my wife's and was glad I did. The more visits always help. Good luck with everything! -
When we entered the USA we informed the Officer we were past the 2 year marriage and he just marked IR-1 in her passport, we had a copy of the marriage license to show him, he just said many people wait if they have the chance, she got her 10 year card a few weeks later. However our son they marked IR-2 in his passport but were only give a 2 year card for him. It doesn't hurt to remind the officer. Good luck

This is great advice for anyone bringing money to USA, except from Vietnam, They have a strict 5000 USD limit to take in or out. The best way is to take the 5000 cash per person. Wise is easy to send money to Vietnam but they do not accept VND yet unless they have just started. You can send money from Vietnam to a US bank but usually it has to be in USD, most US Banks wont accept VND Vietnam banks have more rules for sending money out of the country than any others I have ever seen. Good luck with everything

You go through the US Citizen's side together, all three of you. If you have been married for more than 2 years on the day you enter the USA, make sure the CBP changes the stamp to IR-1 instead of CR-1. If you have been married less than 2 years then it will stay as CR-1 Congratulations and good luck

Read my review of the consulate. It lists all the questions my wife was asked. PM me if you have any more questions. Good luck with the interview!

New COVID Requirement (merged)
craig5977 replied to Jer50's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Here is the link at USCIS and contains the waiver you are talking about. Good luck with it https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/alerts/covid-19-vaccination-required-for-immigration-medical-examinations -
Having the electric bill and any other utility bills in both your names is a big plus, as well as both names on a contract for deed, joint ownership of a car is a plus as well as the auto insurance in both names as well. This is what I was told to supply when I had filed a I-751 a few years ago and we were turned down. Good Luck

Uploaded Form I-864
craig5977 replied to Jer50's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
To Upload a new I-864 you just need to upload it as a supporting document and in the comment section note that it is a corrected I-864. Good Luck -
I am not living there now but bought many things on TIKI, things are shipped COD mostly and they want you to pay in person. So is why they need a local number. I would just use the number of whomever you are shipping it to. Good Luck

Combo interview! Seattle
craig5977 replied to ngu21020's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
A few years ago when we had our combo interview, we were asked separately about items in the household, like the color of the microwave, my wife was asked how much the monthly mortgage payment was, she did not know, we never talked about it. Also they wanted as much items as we could with both our names on it. Like joint checking account, cars, property, bills. Surprising it is hard to get monthly bills in both names. Good luck! -
My wife and son and I arrived back to USA on April 3rd, we had to self quarantine where we were staying in Arkansas. Some states are more strict than others. We had the negative covid test 3 days before we flew to USA. Good luck

We had our interview today. It went smoothly until the end at which time the IO mentioned that I did not have quite enough income to sponsor her and her son. My wife quickly responded as i informed her to do by asking if they looked at our assets? They looked and said, okay, congratulations, you passed and we will print and email your visas and passports. The questions asked where: 1. How did you two meet? 2. Did any of your husband's family or friends from USA attend the wedding? And why or why not? 3. Do you have any relatives in USA? Where do they live? Do you talk to them? 4. How many children does your husband have? 5. How old is the oldest son? She tried to mess up my wife with the year but she gave the correct answer. What does he do for work? 6. Asked about my ex and why we divorced? 7. What does your husband do in his free time? And why? 8. What will you do when you go to USA for work? What will your husband do for work? 9. What is your husband's job? She answered about my job in Vietnam and what my former job was in USA 10. What did you argue about? Why and when was the last time you argued? 11. They asked why my income was so high in 2017 and what was my job to get that salary? 12. How many visas had your husband applied for before? 13. You don't have enough income to sponsor your wife and son, my wife asked if they looked at the assets? They looked and said, okay, congratulations, you passed and we will print and email your visas and passports. My wife saw the blue slip setting there on the chair and was so happy when they said she passed. We think this is the reason we didn't get a pink slip, so was fortunate with all the correct answers and quick thinking she turned the blue to pink. At the time I was the only American with his wife. When they called us to the window, they asked me and our son to take a seat while they interviewed her. The lady was so very kind and friendly and always smiled. Even the translator was very nice and kind. They both smiled when our 5 year old son held up his right arm and to swear in. He also wanted to get his fingerprints done, but he is to young. We told him to do whatever mom did. So he did. All in all it was a quick interview, maybe 10 minutes. We would like to thank everyone for their kind help along the way through this process.
