Hello Visa Journey Members, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek your valuable advice and guidance on behalf of my fianc who is currently facing an issue in the K1 visa application process. As my fianc is an Iranian citizen, there is no U.S. embassy in Iran for the K1 visa process. Therefore, we have been advised to send her passport to the U.S. embassy in Ankara, Turkey in order to avoid taking a flight once her status turns to approved. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone who has been through a similar situation or has knowledge about mailing passports from Iran to the Ankara Embassy could provide us with some insights. We have a few specific questions: -
Shipping Options: Which shipping service(s) did you or your fianc use to mail the passport from Iran to the Ankara Embassy? Are there any specific couriers that are reliable, efficient, and have experience in handling passport delivery? -
Required Documentation: Aside from the passport, are there any additional documents my fianc needs to include in the package when mailing it to the Ankara Embassy? Are there any specific forms, cover letters, or information that should be provided along with the passport? -
Packaging Recommendations: Considering the sensitivity of the documents, what packaging recommendations or precautions should we take to ensure the safety and security of my fianc 's passport during transit? Are there any specific instructions or guidelines provided by the Ankara Embassy for packaging? -
Tracking and Insurance: Should my fianc opt for tracking and insurance services when shipping her passport? If so, which options should she choose? Will she be able to track the shipment throughout its journey? -
Expected Processing Time: Based on your experience, what is the average processing time for the Ankara Embassy to receive and process the mailed passport? Were there any delays or complications encountered during this step? -
Communication with Ankara Embassy: How did you or your fianc establish communication with the Ankara Embassy during the process? Were they responsive to queries or concerns? Were any specific contact details provided for inquiries related to mailed passports? We would greatly appreciate any additional advice, tips, or personal experiences you can share regarding mailing passports from Iran to the Ankara Embassy. We understand that each situation may vary, but your insights will certainly help us navigate this process with more confidence and peace of mind. Thank you so much for your time and support. We look forward to hearing from you and benefiting from your expertise! Best regards, Inveigh

Hi all, I have applied for visas for my parents. However, now that the cases have been sent to the National Visa Center (NVC), they have assigned one of the cases to Abu Dhabi and the other to Yerevan. Unfortunately, there is no US embassy where my parents reside, and NVC no longer accepts phone calls. Although I have already sent them an email, I have not yet received a response. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I would like to know if it is possible to change the location for one of the cases so that my parents can travel together. I have not paid the fees or filled out the DS-260 form yet.

Hello everyone, I wanted to inquire about the status of my fiance's K1 visa application. We recently went through the interview process and unfortunately, we were refused under 221(G). However, the counselor provided my fiance with a DS 5535 form to fill out and the status date has updated three times since the interview on the CEAC website from 08MAY2023, to 09MAY2023, to 10MAY2023 to 11MAY2023. We are wondering if the multiple status updates mean that our case is moving quickly and if we should expect to hear something soon. Additionally, we were given a green slip after the interview which we filled out the first day as opposed to the other colors (Yellow, White, Blue). Has anyone had a similar experience with their K1 visa application? Can anyone offer any insight or advice on what we can expect moving forward? Thank you in advance for any information or support you can provide.

My fiance had her interview at the Abu Dhabi US embassy yesterday. They refused her visa for no apparent reason. The interviewer gave her a sheet that our case requires "administrative processing" and may take several months. They did not ask for any evidence of relationship, I-134 form, W2 forms, or the any financial support documents even though we had all of those with us! We are utterly devastated because we waited 637 for an interview date and we planned the wedding and we were not expecting having to wait more months. This morning they sent me (petitioner) to fill out DS-5535. The questions in DS-5535 are almost the same as DS-160 which we filled out like 3 months ago. I don't know what to expect after this. Does anybody know how much longer we would need to wait?
