Hello folks.

First, do the immunizations given at St Lukes cost money? and how much?

What vaccines are given at St Lukes?

My wife is in Butuan City and this is the price list she sent me.

Are these costs reasonable? (total US$ is about $565)

If St Lukes gives the same and it does not cost, I would certainly like to save the money.

Thanks much

Mark

I see vaccines that are not appropriate for your wife's age. I went thru the K-1 process and these are the vaccinations I had in St. Lukes last January 2007:

Mumps,

Measles,

Rubella and

Vacirella (only 1st dose)

The total cost was $100.00. In regards to the other vaccines,

Polio,

Hib,

Hepatitis B,

Pneumococcal and

Influenza are not "age-appropriate" according to my Vaccination Documentation Sheet.

Another vaccine, called Tetanus Diphteria, is not available in St. Lukes. I had this (1st dose) 3 weeks after I got into the US. The cost, together with the 2nd dose of Vacirella was $98. Oh yeah, there are 2nd and 3rd doses for Tetanus Diphteria, which will cost around $70.

Hope this helps.

When i have my medical exams last April 19, 2007 it only cost $95 including vaccines and xrays. Its the panel physician who will tell what immunization/s you will have. As an advise better to have an early medical so that there's enough time if there's something to "clear " regarding with your health.

Goodluck!

Claudeth paid $100 for the medical and received the MMR vaccination but didn't have to pay any extra. She also needed a tetanus shot but St. Luke's didn't carry it so got it when we did the supplemental for AOS.

just done my first day of med exam yesterday (6/6/07) and the payment is $95 USD which is equivalent to Php 4370.00, applicants are advised to pay in peso rather than $. Had my varicella scar as proof that i already had a history of chicken pox so no need for varicella shot, i will go back there today to get my xray result and i hope i pass my med exam... or else ill be :crying::crying::wacko:

Medical exams at SLEC is $95 (paid in pesos depending on the current/prevailing exchange rate at USEM) and that includes the necessary vaccines (age-appropriate) that the applicant needs, including the blood, urine and CXR exams. For adults, they usually give Varicella vaccines (if you cannot show your pock marks or have not had chickenpox before), MMR and TD. But TD is not usually available and not routinely done in the Philippines, that is why they recommend that applicant should get TD shots in the US. The dosages (2-3 doses for MMR and/or TD) will also depend on your age especially if your on the child-bearing age. If Panel physician will suggests more exams, then you will have to pay more for that (Repeat CXR will cost $7 each).

You need not have to complete the vaccinations/immunizations with a private Doctor, that will just cost you a bundle. Let the Panel Physician at SLEC decide what you need. The prices quoted are way too expensive. MMR is about p1000 and less, Hepa A and Hepa B combined (there's a vial with Hep A & B) will cost about p1000-1200, Meningococcal is about p1800-2000, Influenza is about p1000-1500.
