Hi Guys!

So, i am malaysian and i have a canadian boyfriend. i do travel alot and have my visa appointment in 2 weeks and the half in ottawa, canada. Im unemployed, i quit my job last year and my bf has been supporting me since then. Im in canada with a visitor status. i entered canada in June and im due to leave canada in December.

My appointment in ottawa is 5th October.

i read that many people said its like not likely to get a us tourist visa due to im a visitor in canada. are there any succesfull stories?

what are you experiences and questions?

The reason most likely you'll get deny is because you have NO HOME ties.

Usually CO is already denying B1/B2 based on you DS-160 before the interview. But who knows, perhaps you'll get lucky and get approve.

Even if you reapply at home, what evidence do you have that would convince the Consular Officer you would return home?

Jobless since last year, Canadian boyfriend, frequent travels, others supporting you financially = basically no ties to home country.

Hard to envision a b2, but stranger things have happened.

What difference would it make if you apply from home? Whether you apply in Canada or your home country, the fact still remains that you don't have a reason to return home.

You said it yourself that you are unemployed and your BF has been taking care of you. That is a red flag. That means you are a risk of using the tourist visa to come to the US and stay with your BR indefinitely.

The most important thing you must remember when applying for a visitor visa is that you have to convince the CO that you must return home after your visit to the US, not why you want to visit the US. If you have no job or property to return to, what is stopping you from staying in America with your BF?

Well he is canadian and he has a job here and he has a house here.

for me to say, all i can prove is my itinineraries for all of my future flights back in asia. that is if they asked for it.

thats how i got my canadian tourist visa. i had zero ties from home but i still got the visa.

its going to be the same application as i applied for canadian tourist visa. with my background.

Let us know how it goes Oct 5th.

What matters is you have to convince the CO, not this forum.

Canada and the US are separate countries. It’s not all that unusual for someone to be granted a visa by one but not the other. The US won’t care about future itineraries, flights and hotels can be cancelled. Seems your best bet is to convince them you need to go back to Canada because your boyfriend is supporting you, but I’m not sure exactly how a Canadian CO will take that seeing as you are on a visit not resident visa there.

Um yes that’s the point being made (when I said Canadian CO I meant in the Canadian based US embassy), they need convincing of different things to Canada. You have no ties to home, and you have no long-term visa for Canada, and they don’t care about future itineraries, so I’m not sure how you will convince them you have anywhere you have to go back to after your planned visit, however you seem very confident in your ability to do so, so please come back to let us know when your visa has been granted and it will be interesting for other applicants to know exactly what they asked you.

you are of course totally confident that Canada will let you back in after you visit the US too.

You can absolutely can apply, general comment is that people are usually better off applying in their home country where their situation can be better addressed.

Anyway let us know how it goes.

Agreed...it's highly suggested to apply where you reside since they are best equipped to address your ties home. You can apply elsewhere, but it would not beneficial to your case.
