My husband had his visa interview on August 6th at the US embassy in Dhaka and his visa status went to Administrative Processing. The consular kept the original documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate, passport) It has been over a month and we have not received any response. I sent an email to the embassy once and this is the response they gave me. Any advice or feedback will be helpful. Thanks

Dear  Madam:

Thank you for contacting the U.S. Embassy, Dhaka.

This is in response to your inquiry of  September 7, 2018.

Additional processing is still required for this case.  The processing must be completed before a final decision can be made regarding this case.  Review times vary due to factors beyond our control.  We are unable to expedite this process or speculate about review times.  We will contact the applicant as soon as the process is complete.  We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this matter.

We hope the above information is helpful.

Thanks

Timeline

As mentioned, AP isn't something that can be sped up or bypassed. They will take the time they deem necessary to finish paperwork on their end, background and security checks, ect.

Can be 2-3 days, 2-3 weeks, 2-3 months, or even 1+ years for some, even longer... there was a poster here who was at 20 months I believe just a week ago or so. And to note before anyone tries to bring some politics or something into this, this has been happening for years so it has nothing to do with the administration.

You'll continue to get the same response to every email you send them. Unfortunately, there is no time limit to AP. However, if it gets to be more than several months with no updates, you can ask your local senators/congressmen to make inquires on your behalf. They usually can't speed anything up, but it doesn't hurt to have them checking along with you. I know it's frustrating, but hopefully you'll hear soon and be able to be reunited with your spouse - good luck :)
