Yay! Great way to pass time while waiting for EAD 😊 moving, wedding, everything went fine?

As for me, yes maybe a tiny bit bored 😇 I have so much energy!! I have so many ideas and so many things I want to do, I don't know where to begin. Turns out, if you just relax, spend time writing and thinking and re-prioritizing for three and a half months, that you start to feel real good about yourself! who would've thought, right

It did! What about your events? Did you have a fancy wedding or a court house one? What are you usually doing during the days? Is there anything special you can do in New York?

Hi @Naes , @KatziGuthmann

how you doin

To tell the truth I am doing nothing but hanging out happily at home. Nesting. and spending time with cats.

I didn't know I could cook! So I just realized I can this week! which is awesome... and like I am not bad at it at all so far.

I am thinking of getting some certifications, to add my resume though... cause I am sure I'll be bored in a few months :D

I just read you got your EAD

How are you doing?

Hi everyone,

I sent aos pakage before 13 days but I didnt get any kind of notification yet, how much time should I wait to call them? Does anyone know how much is waiting time for conditional green card , is to get  authorisation for employment (EAD) faster to get or is the same waiting time for both ?

Thanks!!

I would suggest waiting at least a week more before calling them on average its more like 15 days wait before you get your NOA1. The current wait time for EAD is between 4 to 6 months and for AOS its about an year, hope this helps.

Glad to hear it! Court house for us. It was informal but still emotional :)

Apart from spending hours on setting everything up (SSN, AOS package, insurance which eventually failed, furniture, phone plan, etc) I've been strolling around the neighborhood, exploring new podcasts, music and tv shows, reading books, writing, talking to friends/family back home, researching job positions, trying new recipes, attending some networking events and volunteering opportunities, and exercising a lot. NYC has a lot to offer but I've stayed pretty low key because you can end up spending a fortune otherwise.

That sounds amazing. I think that taking the time for nesting and resting is so important and something I completely underestimated. I thought I would get super bored too, but after almost four months I've settled into this new slower pace. My priorities have changed immensely. So my advice to anyone who's just going into this now is relax while you can. There's so much more to us than being productive in a job.

Yeah, I got notified last week that my EAD is on its way. I still can't believe it. Maybe the USCIS thought I'd gotten too comfortable with this chill lifestyle haha. We have booked our Christmas trip back to Sweden (so fingers crossed nothing screws up now with the combo card!) and we also booked a trip to Utah in a few weeks. Time to really start looking for a job, I suppose

Received biometrics appointment today, scheduled on Oct 2

We received ours on Saturday as well for Oct 1. We're going to be in SF that week, so we're going to try to walk in this week. Seems like it's not too difficult to do based on some searches here.

Oh also! USCIS sent us two versions of the same biometrics appointment letter. When I saw it on informed delivery I thought we were getting an RFE or something. But no, it was just them being great at their jobs. 😑

Hi everyone!

Last Saturday (9/22), I sent my package and they received it today. I probably won't hear back anything from USCIS until October, but I believe I'd be a member of September AOS filers if everything goes well!

I'm thinking of going to Social Security Office to see if I can change my name this week or next week. Then a next month or so, I will make a trip to NYC or D.C. to be officially married in Japan too! (Something Japanese citizens have to do if we wanna be officially married in Japan.)

Let the waiting game start! AGAIN!!!!

Quick update - we did a walk in biometrics appointment today in LA (La Brea office) and had absolutely no issues. We got there around 9:10am and were back at the car at 9:30am. There was literally one other family there and they saw us after waiting about 5 minutes. I've never seen a government office that was so empty!

Hello everyone! Hope you all are doing well!

I’m sending papers off this week. Probably I’ll be a October filer. But I just have a question, did you add a copy of your 1-94, certificate, etc to every form? Or you put all the forms together and add one 1-94, etc to that? I just came back and I don’t know where to find that info.

WOOP! Got Receipt Notice email and text last night, I presume it's for my EAD. The receipt number is coming up as invalid on Case Status Online though... I wonder is it just not added to their online system yet.

I did the same at St. Paul after I have read your post, and it worked I walked in there was no one. I asked the officer if I can get my biometrics done knowing that my appointment scheduled for next week. he answered back yes there is no action today. it took 20 min in total. Hoorayy!!!
