For what purpose would you be presenting USCIS letters or documents to Ukrainian embassy? They need proof of your Ukrainian citizenship not your status in the US.

Some embassies do require these documents. I lived in Europe, and back then...the embassy was not allowed to issue passport to undocumented nationals in these embassies. i.e Germany had this rule in place, embassy/consulates, where only allowed to issue emergency passports to their nationals for travel out of Germany, to avoid the stay as undocumented in Germany. It might not be longer like that.

Hi.

We were there last weekend.

A combo of an Expired green card & Extension Letter will  work.

You should also bring Driver License or something else as a proof of your current address in the US. My son and I don't have any green cards at this point, so Embassy excepted I-551 stamp in passports as well.

Payment -  money order. They don't take cash and cards.

The guide on their website is pretty good.

I tried to call and never got anybody on hold. But they are pretty quick, answering emails, so you could email if you have any questions.

I also was able to notarize some POA - just in case if you need services like that. If so - you would need INN of the person, listed in the POA.

Keep in mind - since September 1, 2018  they work only by appointment. For now  it's a "mix" - they still take people without one, but only if there is an available spot.

Good luck!!

P.S. Washington is beautiful!!! We arrived on Saturday night - had a chance to visit Lincoln Memorial (it's open 24/7). And then we had the whole Sunday for DC... Our appointment was on Monday and the schedule like that worked really  fine - we had to take just 1 day off work and the same time had enough time to see Washington.

Also, if you want to kkep your old passport, let them know before they start - they will give you an application to fill out.

It was really nice experience. Once again - good luck!!

You are mistaken.

They need a document that proves you live in the US. And it's listed as a requirement to get a passport. It can be I-94, green card, Employer Otter, Bank Statement and  and etc.

Call Ukrainian embassy in NY. I know few people who renewed their passport through them. It takes about 2 month.

You don't get to pick which Embassy you want to visit. You can only go the the Embassy you are "signed in", depending  on the State you live in.

It's Listed in their website.

Employer Otter

Very helpful posts, but is the above related to an Unemployment Beaver?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It was supposed to be Employment Letter :)

They need any proof of your residency  in the US. And Employer Letter is on of the documents, listed on the Embassy website - probably for those, who cannot provide any green card, extension letter, I-94.. My guess ;)

But yes, it's there .

If it was on English, I would post that, but all those requirements to re-new or get a new passport are on Ukrainian :)
