Hi All,

When the spouse beneficiary attends their interview with U.S. Embassy, is the US Citizen spouse needed? I am specifically enquiring about Mumbai, India embassy.

And, how long after approval does the spouse beneficiary receive their visa?

Thanks.

1) Typically, USC is not REQUIRED to attend interviews. Some embassies won't even let the beneficiary come into the building so check with ur specific country requirements. Some USC go to interviews simply because they want to be there and offer emotional support

2) It depends. Typically visa issuance is 1-2 weeks. BUT things can happen- someone can get stuck in AP (Administrative Processing) for months on end. SO I suggest not making any travel plans until you have ur visa in hand.
