My wife applied for her CA ID over a month ago and I'm wondering how much longer we might have to wait to receive it. How long did it take you to receive your first ID?

I have a habit of losing my DL. It's never taken more than a couple weeks for me to receive a new one in the mail (after visiting the CA DMV and submitting the application). I don't think my wife had to wait any more than 3-4 weeks to get her DL either.

Is it for a state ID or a state DL? If the latter, they should have at least given you a temporary paper one.

Over a month definitely sounds abnormally long.

State ID. I know I got my ID in like 2 weeks but I wasn't sure how long it normally takes for someone who is applying their first time who's not a USC. I figured they do some kind of check with Social Security and USCIS.

How is this possible if you keep it in your wallet with your other credit cards, store cards, etc?   I’ve never lost mine (knock on wood)

One of the two times it was my entire wallet, not just my DL. 2nd time, not sure why it was out of my wallet. Also must have fallen out of my pocket during my commute because BART mailed it to me a few months later (long after I got a replacement). I went 20+ years never losing it, then did it twice in a span of 18 months.
