Me and my husband applied fiance visa and it's already processed 4 months now. But we got married a month ago, got marriage certificate but not yet authenticated. Can we still continue with our case?  Need help please. Thank you

Awww... That's very sad :(  

Anyways Canadian_wife,  thank you for your greetings and of course answer :) . Are you from Philippines or?  I am just only curious about unauthenticated Marriage Certificate if it's considered legal paper here in our country.

oh man, now you will need to start over!

 

you can no longer continue the K1. that is for unmarried people to marry inside the US. now you will need to withdraw that one. and then after that's completed, file CR1. you know that CR1 takes ~12-14 months, right? you just unnecessarily wasted money and 4 months on a K1.

Passport 17-Feb-22 Drop-off at USPS (expedited processing and shipping) ~ 22-Feb-22 Status: In Process ~ 08-Mar-22 Passport book shipped ~ 09-Mar-22 Status: Approved. Passport book in hand.

N-400     28-Jun-21 Filed online ~ 28-Jun-21 Received NOA + "Biometrics will be re-used" notice ~ 14-Dec-21 Interview scheduled ~ 25-Jan-22 Interview. Approved. Case status: Oath will be scheduled.  ~ 01-Feb-22 Oath scheduled. ~ 14-Feb-22 Oath ceremony.

A fiancé visa is for a fiancé. You need a spousal visa since you are now married.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

The US citizen needs to write a letter to USCIS and explain that you are now married.

What information the US citizen should include in the letter:

  • Your name
  • Your fiance’s name
  • Your receipt/case number
  • Your address and phone number
  • Statement of why you are canceling the K1
  • Sign the letter

 

Then start the CR-1 process as described here:  http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1
