Two questions regarding Fiance visa - (Blue ink & stapling)

Hello all,

I'm almost done with the whole thing and recently traveled to visit my fiance to get her signature on the letter of intent, however, she signed it with blue ink. Later I read in the I-129f instructions form (at the bottom of page 2) to "type or print legibly in black ink" .. is it going to be an issue having my fiances signature in the letter of intent using blue ink? I'm not sure if the instructions regarding the black ink is specific to the I-129f form only or EVERYTHING! Please let me know what you guys did or if you came across the same issue!

My second question is it ok to staple my application? I have seen couple of youtube videos where people don't staple anything but rather use a clip at the top to hold their file. for example, I have been stapling my tickets together then diff uber receipt..etc.. What did you guys do?

Thank you so much in advance :)

Don't worry too much. I'm pretty sure I signed everything in blue ink and I just got my approval.

I did not staple anything. Being a government employee in the Netherlands I know how annoying it is, lmao. The adjudicator will need to take all the staples out and then run it through a scan. Then he will have all these loose pages that makes it easy to lose something.

I made one neat package and clipped it together at both sides

Edit:

Make sure you fill out your timeline and the country your fiancé is from, This makes it a lot easier for us to give you detailed information. ;)

Regarding the staples---USCIS has these tips for filing forms on their website:

In preparing your packet, remember:

  • Do not use binders or folders that we cannot easily disassemble.
  • Use fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions. Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated.
  • Sticky tabs assist in locating items listed as attachments. For easy filing, place the tabs on the bottom of the page, not the side.
  • Do not use heavy-duty staples; instead use fasteners or heavy clips.
  • Do not submit originals unless specifically required.
  • Do not submit oversized documentation unless it is necessary.

I used binder clips, and 2 hole punched the pages for the file folder. I didn't use sticky tabs or anything like that because I have experience with sticky tabs and ADF feeders for scanners and the two do not mix. Here is a photo of the top view of my copy of the petition I sent. Needless to say I put the local Staples store into a different tax bracket for the end of last year. And supplied USCIS with binder clips for this year.

FWIW, we filed with a lawyer (wife was more comfortable with that, though I think I've convinced her we're competent enough to file the next stage on our own and use the money for a trip, instead). Though the form was typed, he made a specific point of us signing in blue ink. You should be fine.
