Depends on your petition category.

If it’s for immediate relative, you will get welcome letter (thru email) detailing the steps start the NVC steps.

if it’s for other family relatives, you case is gonna sit there till you PD is close to being current at which point NVC will email you the welcome letter to start the process.

DiSregard PD then if it’s K1.

Look into the steps in the link below.

or

Time for your fiance to start gathering documents like police certificate, birth certificate, and so on.

Time for you to prepare i134 and supporting  financial documents.

Here is what I can recall:

Use the case number to check the status at the NVC to find out when the case is transferred to the foreign embassy.

When the case says " READY" that is usually an indication that it is now with the local embassy. Then you should:

- Reach out to local embassy for any special instructions that you may need to know before your interview. They ususally have instructions on what to do or the next steps. These include but not limited to:

- Complete the DS 160 online

-Register online to pay for the interview and schedule your interview.

-Complete medical exam

-gather documents need for interview

Good Luck!

Did you get your NOA2 in June? You can go to the June NOA2 forum and stay abreast on all the information you will need while waiting for your NVC case number.
