I was full time university student for last five years, just graduated last month. And don't have a work history therefore my parent's use to claim me as dependent on their taxes. Both mom and dad file married joint taxes.

I'm going to use my parent's taxes for my husband (cr-1/I-130). I understand I use I-864 for myself even though I didn't work. Do I use 2 separate I-864, one for my mom and one for my dad. Or just use one since they file their taxes married/joint?

Thank you in advance!

You:  your own I-864 with a letter saying you did not have income for the last three years and was not required to file tax returns.

One Parent: files his/her own I-864.

Other Parent:  files I-864a.

Thank you so much!

I have transcripts from IRS for last three years stating that I didn't file taxes. I'll be including those as well.

One Parent: files his/her own I-864.

Other Parent:  files I-864a.

Question:

When I file I-864 for myself,

Part 5. Household size: number 7.  Optional, is asking (if you have any siblings, parents, or adult children with the same principle residence who are combining their income with yours by submitting form I-864A, enter the number here):

Since I'm using my parents taxes and we all live at the same address, for my mom, we are going to use I-864, and for my dad I-864A.

So for part 5, number 7, Do I enter 1 or 2 since we are going to use the income for both my mom and dad, but only my dad will be using I-864A. Or do I leave it blank?

My second question is: I'm stating that I was full time student. But I was also getting full scholarships/grants for my education, do I list those as my income?

My scholarships are also mentioned in my parent's taxes since they claimed me as dependent but was not included in the the overall income.

Your help is much appreciated!

Scholarships are not income for the purposes of the I-864. Current income is based on what you earn in a 12 month period.
