Hi all, so my I-130 was denied mostly based on the naivety of my husband and i throughout this process. However, i am able to reapply and begin adjusting status again. My question is do i reuse the A-number i was given previously even though my petitions were denied?

Is it like a SSN where its just mine no matter what i do with USCIS now?

yes. what reasons were you given for denying?

My husband and I were naive and assumed USCIS would be able to tell how serious we were. We didn't hire a lawyer and relied on some silly advice. My medical exam wasn't ready in time for my interview and we had been told by someone at a USCIS office our best bet would be to reschedule our interview, in fear our case would be denied if we showed without it. However our letter didn't make it to the appropriate department and my case was considered denied as we didn't show for the interview. We now know we could have gone and just received an RFE and wouldn't have been denied. After subsequent appeals it's been denied however I'm able to reapply. Which I'm grateful for.
