BIZARRE: USCIS Re-sent Old Email Notification

Hi all

My husband had his N400 interview on May 24th. Unfortunately he didn't get the approval on the spot as we were hoping. The IO was very nice to him but told him she needed time to review his file. So we've been in a waiting game since.

A bizzare thing happened today. I checked my email and found an email notification from the USCIS. I was excited until I opened it and realized it was an old email from August 2017 regarding his permanent green card. It stated the posted office had picked up his green card.

I'm not understanding why an old notification was re-sent to us. Has anyone every experienced this before???

I assumed they are doing something in his file and hit the wrong notification. Not sure what to make of it .

May 24th is quite recent. It is not uncommon for people who do not get same day approval to wait for weeks, in some cases months, and still get approved. So, on that area, just chill and wait.

About the email notice, does it have a tracking number? If so, track it and see if there is something heading your way.

I hope it doesn't take weeks/months :o. She told him he would receive a letter in 2 to 4 weeks regarding the ceremony. His status hasn't changed yet from "Interview Scheduled". So I was hoping the email was denoting a change to show approval.

Anyway, there is a tracking number. I don't know if it's old regarding the GC. But it did say "Label Created" which implies it's a new tracking number. I'll have to check it again tomorrow. I was just confused that it referenced the GC  and August 2017.

Do they send the notifications out regarding the Oath Ceremony via certified mail?

Online status change at this stage is VERY unreliable. Mine still says "...we scheduled an interview..." Look at my signature below to see where I am already.

Not sure if the notification is by certified mail. I got mine via email, because I had entered into email dialogue with my local office due to need for an accommodation.

Thread is moved from the US Citizenship main forum to the Case Progress subforum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

The same thing has been happening to me. I am waiting in line for an interview but I received a text and email about an update on my old removal of conditions. Weird indeed.

Methinks the USCIS auto email and case update is having serious issues at the moment. I received and email today advibdi g me of a case update

Notified  me of the delivery of my GC on March 27 2017

Thankfully,  the actual GC delivery was more timely than the email!!

Probably so....it is weird especially when one is excited to receive an update.

I got this too, my husband got 14 text messages. It was so disappointing, however a week later I received my interview notice, so I can't help but wonder if they were looking at my file when that happened.
